Beyond Earth Month Giveaway: Products to Help You Go Green Year Round

April 27, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

earthmonth-giveawayEarth month is winding down now, but I’ve got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:

  • Bissell Little Green Machine
  • Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
  • White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper
  • Brita Water Filter Pitcher
  • Tide Cold Water Detergent – not pictured

I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I’ve been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. The most surprising would be the White Cloud recycled paper towels and toilet paper. I was suprised by how soft they were!

How can you win?

My simple green tip is to USE LESS (not useless! :)… buy products with less packaging (and use less when you package things like lunches), create less waste, eat less food, use less water, drive less (using less gas)!

I love the new “Green” products. And I use of couple of things laying around the house also. Coffee filters -do you know they make a great liner for your potted plants? Also for all you quilters have that left over piece of batting to small for most things – use it on your swiffer, it picks up better and you can use up your scraps.’

I have had a garden for over 35 years now–can’t get much “greener” than that! All grass clippings & leaves have been composted in that garden for the entire 35 years also.

My family went green 8 years ago by switching to an online and catalog store. The products are better, safer and more cost effective than anything we used to buy before plus since they do no advertising at all, they pay any of their happy customers like myself to do their promoting, endorsing, marketing for them. For more details and information, feel free to contact me anytime.

I use a paper cutter to trim the left-over pages from printing coupons, punch holes in them and put them into a binder for my daughter to color in!

I have FINALLY switched over to the reusable bags for shopping. Wow, what a difference! Also, we grow a garden every year (fresh is better and cheaper!), make compost, use a trash compacter for recycling cans and plastic (paper goes in another area), and save big bottles (like Arizona Tea) to use in the garden as a waterer (take off lid, rinse, turn upside down, cut hole, dig a spot close to seedling, bury with spout down, pour water in cut hole area). Works great!

One of my ways of helping the earth is to use dish towels in the kitchen so we are not going thru rolls and rolls of paper towels. Mom was Cherokee and beleived in doing things the old way most of the time. She also knew a lot of ways to do things that weren’t Native, but if it worked, she used it. We used vinegar for cleaning a lot. I even learned that peanut butter is better for getting gum out of kids hair than ice and peanut butter is better at taking sticker residue off the glass in new picture frames. The oil in the peanut butter breaks down the gum and also the sticker (sticky) residue and can be washed out.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
