Better than FREE or Cheap Entertainment Book

December 9, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski 24 Comments

Entertainment Book
Here’s a great tip on how you can score the Entertainment Book for cheap or even FREE by following the steps below!

If you’re not familiar with the entertainment book, it’s chock full of great local coupons for dining out, entertainment and sports, travel and hotels, retail and more! I purchased my local Columbus Area book at a less fabulous price through my son’s school, but I will more than get my money’s worth out of it.

Just one example – if you’re a Meijer shopper, there are (4) earn $5 off your next Meijer Brand grocery purchase coupons when you spend $50 on a grocery transaction. There are also (8) $15 off your shopping trip coupons with any new or transferred prescription. Of course the deals vary by location, so you’ll want to check out your local deals before you commit to purchasing.

Here’s how to get your cheap or FREE Entertainment Book!

  • Register with Cashbaq. Cashbaq is a site that allows you to earn rebates on purchases that you make through their site.  Right now you get a $5 credit instantly just for registering!
  • Click through the Cashbaq site to purchase your Entertainment Book. The current promotion on the Entertainment Book is 35% off and free shipping.  You’ll receive an additional $10 off for purchasing through the Cashbaq site.
  • Select the Automatic Renewal option for an additional $5 off. I have used this option before, and you’ll receive a postcard in the mail so you can cancel if you don’t want it.  It states that you may be charged the $5 back, but I was not and others have had the same experience.  Even if you decide against this option, the $5 for registering with Cashbaq makes up for it!

So there you go!

The original price varies on the book by location from $25 to $30, so depending on whether you use the Automatic Renewal option and if you’re already registered with Cashbaq, your final price will range from better than FREE to $9.50 (which is easily earned back with just a couple of coupon uses.

Thanks to Cheryl at SwapSavers for passing along this incredible offer!

I didn’t go all the way through the checkout process, but I made it as far as the Place Order page without any problems. Maybe it was just a glitch? Give it another try and see if it works. Please let us know if you’re still having problems!

I was able to do it but it only put the price at $10. I’m guessing I have to spend more money at Cashbaq.com to get the $10 check from them at a later date? I’ve never used it before so that’s just what I could gather from reading.

The Entertainment website says they’ll automatically send me a 2010 book and charge it to my account next year, so I’ll pray they send a postcard first. If not I’ll sell it to my dad, he always buys the book.

Also, at the end of your checkout they offer you 3 months of 3 magazines for free. I didn’t sign up because I know I’ll forget to cancel them in time but they were really good ones like BH&G, Rachael Ray, Oprah, etc.

Hi, Heather. When you’ve earned over $10 from Cashbaq (which you will have with this purchase), they will issue you a check or credit your PayPal account for the rebate. Make sure you go in and update your payment information! It states that payments will be sent around the 20th of each month.

Heather–if you go to the top of the page where it says, “my account” if you click on it, and then click on balance it should list the $10 cash back there and a $5 sign up. Sometimes it does take a few days before it shows up. If it doesn’t, you can email them. There is also an option under my account which states, “click history” which should show the date you clicked on the link. Good Luck!

I did this and paid $10 for the book. I should be getting $15.00 from cashbaq but do not see the $10 credited to my account yet. I just made the purchase, does it take a few minutes or days to show in the account?

Hi, Nicole! I just found this information in their FAQs that should explain it.

How long does it take for my Cashbaq rewards to show up in my account after making a purchase?

Although most stores report back to us within a few days of purchase it is not uncommon for reporting to be delayed as long as 45 days from the date the item was shipped. Your rewards will not appear in your account until we have received confirmation of your order from the store. If after 30 days you still are not being credited for your order, please send us a Support Request with all of your order information included and our customer service team will work to resolve the matter so you get your full cash back.

I’ve been using Cashbaq for a couple years. They have way more stores than any other rewards site and they usually pay more, too. It does take a couple days to see credit for your orders show up. I’ve never had a problem with their service.

Tara, thank for posting this offer. We’ve had a lot of great feedback from shoppers about Entertainment Book and the $10 cash back.

While we wish we could give instant reporting, it does take time. Entertainment Book orders usually show up in your account in the next day or 2.

Normally we have to wait 90 days to set your order to payable but we are looking into paying Entertainment Book orders the following month. Our goal is to pay our members as much as possible as quickly as possible. So make sure to enter your payment information so we can send you your cash back by check or Paypal. If you get it via Paypal, you can also use the Paypal page to find some great offer. Several stores are offering cash back if you use Paypal so you can double dip and get both.

Remember that there are over 2,000 online stores and services at Cashbaq. If there are any others that you want, let us know and we’ll see if we can offer cash back for them.

    Happy shopping!

It is $10 per book. If you order multiple books, you will see the first $10 post within a couple of days and the rest later in the month.

I heard/read that that site is a big scam. I typed it in and scam sites for that web site came up. Does anyone have a problem with that site or have been scammed?

Chrissy, are you referring to Cashbaq? They are absolutely legit. I just received my first check from them about two weeks ago. The David that commented above is their CEO, so I’m impressed that he takes the time to follow blog posts to assist in answering questions.

Hey, everyone. Thanks for sharing tips on how to get the Entertainment Book for next to nothing. I have been purchasing the book for the past few years and it has always been worth it, even paying full price. I’m one of those people who keeps the coupons I need in the car or my purse so I’m ready. Also, it’s a big help when family or friends visit from out of town. Since I’m in the DC area, we always get to do the “touristy” things for less. Cheers!

It’s been 4 months since I ordered my Entertainment book, and hadn’t received a postcard about the automatic renewal, so I went to the Entertainment Book’s website to cancel it. This was the response I got back from them:

“Thank you for contacting Entertainment Publications in reference to your Annual Renewal Membership. I apologize for any confusion.

Let me clarify the $5 Renewal Program cancellation fee. When you purchased the 2009 Entertainment Book you received an additional $5 off the book you ordered because you opted to enroll in our Renewal Program. That discount was contingent upon your receipt of our 2010 Book through the Annual Renewal Program.

Since you have decided to cease being a member of our Annual Renewal Program and are no longer purchasing the 2010 Edition, we are recouping the discount we extended to you.”

I just checked my bank account and now have a $5 charge from them. Lovely. Oh well. It was still free (I think). Plus, I STILL haven’t been paid from Chasbaq, and they absolutely have all the information they need. Kind of a bummer. I haven’t talked to them about it yet so I’ll go do that now.

Just wanted to let you know. Hopefully other people don’t get charged the $5 back.

I did not get the $10 dollars off promised on your site.
    What’s the deal?
who pockets the extra money? I paid the same price I would have on the entertainment.com site.
