Back-to-School Giveaway: FreeAgent Go External Hard Drive

August 20, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

FreeAgent Go Portable Hard Drive

Tune in all week for hot Back-To-School Giveaways. We’ve got some great prizes for the kids, with a couple of special prizes to pamper mom!!! Look for a new 48-hour giveaway each morning and each afternoon, and be sure to check out all of the current giveaways for other great prizes!

In today’s technology-driven world, the importance of backing up data can’t be understated. Whether you keep important documents or priceless photos on your hard drive, you run the risk of losing it all without proper backups.

The Seagate FreeAgent Go portable hard drive is a great solution for securing your data, especially if your family has more than one computer.

The FreeAgent Go will makes it easy to backup your entire computer and then some. Seagate sent me one of these little contraptions to try out for myself, and seriously, it’s so simple that even my 5 year old could set it up. I just plugged it into the USB port, and the installation process started up automatically.

Features that I love (besides the cool red and chrome colors):

  • Automated scheduled backups – one less thing I have to remember is always fine by me!
  • Syncs folders between computers – I often switch between my laptop and netbook, so this will be a huge timesaver.
  • Docking station – makes keeping it connected to your main computer easy, but it’s also easy to hook up to another computer!
  • Password protection of the drive – no worries about curious little people erasing my backed up files!

With 500GB of memory, this external hard drive should have plenty of space to backup my photos, documents, and iTunes music collection safely for many years to come.

One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a FreeAgent Go 500GB portable hard drive!

To enter, tell me what information you need to backup on your computer. Do you have hundreds of pictures of your kids? Important financial documents? Business records?

+++++++++++++++

Every reader has four methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, three, or four for up to a total of 4 entries!!!

Methods of entry:

1. Leave a comment. Do you currently backup the data on your computer? Do you have pictures or documents that you would be devestated to lose?

2. Add Deal Seeking Mom to your blogroll or add my badge to your sidebar. Make sure to come back and leave the link to your site in a separate comment!

Right now I only have copies of my pictures and videos online. And I only started doing this after my old computer died and I lost all the pictures from my son’s first 5 years of life! I do have hard copies though thank goodness.

I often think I need to back up my computer! I just know that it’s going to give out one of these days. This would be perfect to back it up!

My husband is in graduate school (and has been for 2.5 years now!) so we have lots of papers and PDFs to back-up that he can’t get rid! Not to mention photos from all our travels around the world!!

I could most definitely use this! I have a very old computer with lots of pictures—- all of them for 10+ years—- that I really need to get from there, plus documents. I need an efficient way to back them up (and be able to access them beyond the 20 minutes it takes to load up the old computer).

I also have subscribed using Google Reader.

    Thanks!

I have so many school documents and pictures on my laptop and none of them are backed up! I don’t know what I would do if something happened to my computer!

I could not have more pics of my kids on my desktop. I keep getting the low memory alert, but what can I do? THEY ARE SO CUTE!

Hey… I need to back up the pictures of my son that my wife takes obsessively, our financial records, and also our music collection — I don’t know if I could find half of those CDs… they’re in a box somewhere, but I think in the last move it got buried. Anyway, it’d come in awfully handy!

I try to backup my pictures on Photobucket, but having an external hard drive would be MUCH better.

We need to back up our stuff! Last Christmas my lap top crashed…which contained everything from my college years… papers, studies, photos, journal entries, etc… It was pretty devestating!

I’m an artist and photographer, so I not only have photos to back up, but edited photos to use in my work, as well as photos of my work for submissions to shows. And then there are all the artist statements, resume’, etc. Last but not least, pictures of the kids and pets, of course!

I keep trying to get into the habit of backing up, but I am not good at doing it. The thing is, if I worked for someone else, I would do it every Friday before I left, I know I would!

I would be devastated to lose the photos of my children, that is the worst part. An external hard drive would be so easy. Thanks for having the giveaway!

I have scanned and saved many OLD family photos. I have disc back-ups, but it would be smarter to have an external drive as a back-up!
