I love getting coupons online, but lately, I have run into problems, especially at Giant Eagle, where the cashiers refuse to take the Internet coupons. Their policy is, “If it doesn’t scan, we don’t take it.” I can understand this to a degree because of fraud, but it is frustrating when I know I am using a legitimate coupon, usually from coupons.com or redplum.com. Today, I spent five minutes waiting for a cashier to check with two different people while they conferred about what to do regarding two $1 coupons from coupons.com. Finally, I was told that “we’ll override it just this once” but in the future if the coupons don’t scan, they can’t take them. Could the cashier be scanning the coupons incorrectly, or do some Internet coupons work and some not?

Sometimes i.p.’s don’t scanfor me. Like those .55 off Sunbelt granola bars ones. But they always key it in for me, I’d be mad if they said they couldn’t take them, if it were a free item i.p. I could understand but $1 off…
