Earlier this afternoon, at my Giant Eagle, the coupon for.75/1 did not match the toothpaste that was on sale. :(

Do you recall which ones were on sale? The ad just says 6.4 oz. sizes. There are several more coupons listed in the DSM database, so surely there is something that matches up right now.

Hi! I was just linking back to your Giant Eagle post(one of my favorite stores) and I found that in the same paper (3-7-10PG) that there is a $3/1 coupon for the Mach 3 disposable razor that will make this a $1.01 MONEYMAKER. I thought I would pass this along to you.
Tara Kuczykowski
Hi Tammy! I think the $3 coupon is for the 6-ct. razors, and this deal is for the 3-ct. packages.

OH NO!! Thanks- I need to update my post and drink some more caffeine before I start looking at coupons! Thank you=]

Don’t you think it’s misleading to post a deal using the wrong coupons? You’re promoting illegal use of coupons, because the Colgate that’s on sale for $1.50 is not the Colgate the manufacturer intended the 75 cent coupon to be used on. Just because a coupon will scan on a product not listed on the coupon, doesn’t mean you should encourage your readers to do something that’s both illegal and immoral. It gives couponers in general a bad name. We get enough good deals by using coupons legitimately! I’m disappointed in you for encouraging others to follow your lead.
Tara Kuczykowski
Jo, I am by no means encouraging illegal use of coupons. The ad only states 6.4-oz. sizes, which this coupon is valid on. There is no mention of specific varieties. Sisters Shopping on a Shoestring told me that all varieties this size are ringing up at the sale price, and my scenario is based on that information. If some stores have different pricing, I can’t be held responsible for that.
I do not advocate coupon fraud in any manner whatsoever, and I go out of my way to respond to comments on my site where misinformed readers post about using coupons in a less than ethical manner. Ultimately the responsibility lies with each consumer to verify that they’re using a coupon in the manner it was intended though. I’m not perfect, and I can’t possibly do every deal that I post personally.

According to my Central Ohio ad, the Colgate toothpaste that is generating a $3 OYNO is the Premium (Total, etc) and the cost is 2/$5. You can also purchase the Max Fresh or Max White tootbrushes for the same price. You must spend $10 and the coupon is $3 OYNO Health & Beauty. The coupon in the 3/28 SS is for $0.75 off Colgate Total, Sensitive, Max White and Max Fresh. So you would purchase 4 of them, use 4 coupons which would be doubled to $1.50 each – which would make a total OOP of $4.00 and $3.00 Catalina back ($1.00 for 4 toothpastes).
There is no need for nasty comments to Tara. If you are a true follower of this blog, you would know that she would never encourage incorrect use of coupons. If you can do a better job, then by all means create your own blog. I’m sure it would be mistake free!
Jo
I wasn’t trying to be nasty at all. I was only pointing out that there is some misinformation in the above post saying you can get 4 toothpaste with 4 coupons and the catalina “better than free”. As “cemarnold” posted first and you just confirmed, Shannon, the 75¢ coupons are for the Premium toothpaste which is $2.50, making the toothpaste 4/1. Good price, but not “better than free”. I thought Tara would appreciate not posting information that encourages incorrect coupon usage. I looked at the Sisters website re/ this offer and they show a picture of the Colgate they purchased using the Premium coupon. NOT the correct item the coupon was intended for.
I understand that you cannot possibly do all the deals you post, Tara, but don’t you want to know if there is incorrect information being relayed to you by others? By posting their information, you’re assuming it’s correct.
This was my first time posting and I thought I was pointing out an error that you would like to fix because you don’t post shady deals. I guess I should’ve just kept my mouth shut and will do so from now on.
I do appreciate all the hard work done to keep your blog going, as it has saved me lots of money.
Tara Kuczykowski
But the above $0.75 coupon is valid on Colgate Total, which means it is valid on the sale items as Shannon stated. Cemarnold did not state which varieties she or he found on sale, so I have no way of knowing what coupons are necessary for the deal for that location.
I certainly appreciate you speaking up, Jo. I encourage comments, and I’ll always admit when I’m wrong. But the deal is correct as written to my knowledge in this instance.
