by Tara Kuczykowski on November 4, 2009 · 58 comments

Coach Coupons
Have someone on your Christmas gift list that loves Coach purses? Then you'll be please to know that there's another 20% off at Coach Factory Stores coupon (on top of 25%-65% reductions) available.

This is valid on everything in the stores, including the cute little wristlets, key chains, and swingpacks!

Expires 11/15/09.

In case you're wondering, the adorable purse I was drooling over pictured above is $898!!!

There's no way in H-E-double you know what I'd ever pay that price for something my kids are going to stuff full of snotty Kleenexes and half-eaten granola bars. But I've found some fantastic deals at the outlet store!

What's the most you've ever paid for a purse? Be honest. :P

I've paid $300 for a Coach purse. It was during Blogher this year. I was walking along Michigan Avenue, saw it in the window and bought it and then immediately started hyperventilating.

I love it, though. I think I'm going to start treating myself to more nice things.

I paid $60.00 for a Dooney and Bourke 2 Black Fridays ago at the Military base exchange because it was normally something like $120.00, in the ad they ran that week, all D&B's were 20% off, then if you were the first 100 people in line on that morning, you got a 20% off any item under $500.00 and a $20.00 gift card. I used the purse like 3 times, hated it and sold it on eBay for $80.00. haha! I'll take my cheapo $25.00 Target purses anyday!

3 Christina November 4, 2009 at 8:49 am

Less than $100!

4 Kristin T. November 4, 2009 at 8:54 am

Honestly I think the most I have ever paid for a purse is about $60. I've lived near an outlet center all my life, and I worked retail for 15 years, so it pains me (literally) to pay full price for ANYTHING and it always has. Once you learn how retail marketing and pricing works, it's hard to force yourself (or at least me) to pay a lot for items I know will get marked down 75% eventually. It helps that I like to look nice but that I'm not overly concerned with having the latest fashions.

I love COACH printable coupon, it really helps saving big. 20% off no minimum orders on already reduced price of "American Designer handbags & accessories" at Coach Factory Stores.

6 Joy November 4, 2009 at 9:06 am

I'm pretty sure I've never paid more than about $10.

7 Diana November 4, 2009 at 9:19 am

The most I have ever paid for a purse is $200. And with the Coach coupon from last month I got a $400 purse for $150!!!

8 Jenni November 4, 2009 at 9:24 am

I used to go crazy for Coach purses until I had 3 kids in under 3 years... That puts a stop to silly spending awfully quick.
The most I've ever spent for a purse has been at Coach, though... A retail store (before I was savvy and realized saving money IS the way to go), for $328, and it's only big enough to carry a nice wallet and maybe a cell phone. It's a soft pink suede, with a slightly lighter pink leather and crystals within it's silver belt... And I can't even use it now that my kids are around because I can't stand the idea of them getting "stuff" all over it.
Oh well... You live and you learn.
Great coupon, though.

9 Michelle November 4, 2009 at 9:25 am

You are so right! I used to laugh at all the people who told me to buy a Coach diaper bag! Are you kidding me? Clearly these people do not have snotty children.

10 Kira November 4, 2009 at 9:26 am

I paid $98 for a purse from Boden, a lovely navy pebbled leather bag that I've used almost every day since I bought it a year and a half ago. I love it. Every time a new bag tempts me at the store, I think, "But will I want to use it every day? Do I like it as much as my purse from England?" And the answer is no, so my wallet stays in my $98 purse. :)

11 andrea November 4, 2009 at 9:32 am

The most I've ever paid is $20. I usually buy them at Sears and Target when they're on clearance.

12 kristine November 4, 2009 at 9:40 am

I bought a bag from coach for about $45o-500. It is a big white bag that now has crusted snacks and blue pen on the outside of it. sad.

13 Paige November 4, 2009 at 9:52 am

$80 at the coach outlet, with 50% off and the 20% off coupon.. !!

14 Amy Looby November 4, 2009 at 10:08 am

Oh honey,
If you don't have to have the fancy name label, which is what you're really paying for, you have to shop here for purses and jewelry!

15 Lara Carswell November 4, 2009 at 10:12 am

I graduated from law school last year (May 2008) and started my first full time job last fall. I treated myself to my first expensive purse. I paid $250 (full retail) for a Dooney & Bourke Medium Cindy Black Croco purse/tote. I love this bag. I can shove everything I usually carry, plus my lunch, a water bottle, and a book into this bag. I carry it everyday!

16 Karlie November 4, 2009 at 10:17 am

I paid $160 for this fabulous green suede and dark brown leather tote/laptop bag. I told myself unless I made that much in tips in one weekend at my part-time job that I wou;dn't let myself splurge that much...

17 Chancey November 4, 2009 at 10:18 am

I spent $125.00 on a purse once LOL If I spent that much on a purse now, I think my husband would kill me hahahaha

18 Anya November 4, 2009 at 10:21 am

Well.. it is probably crazy, but I have only owned and bought one purse in my life (the one I am using now) it is very cute though.. and I got it for free.. The original price on it was $60 at Kohls.. it was on clearance and I had a great coupon.. so I got it for free. :)

19 kim November 4, 2009 at 11:04 am

i wont spend over 30 for one. the only time i carry one is during the winter, so if i spent any more money on one, it would just be a waste.

20 k November 4, 2009 at 11:10 am

I paid 285 for a brown leather hobo dooney I've had it 3 years...I consider myself frugal..It was a splurge, it felt good.I am still glad I bought it!

21 Maggie November 4, 2009 at 11:22 am

I think the most I spent was around $250 for a Coach purse. It was my first one and my husband bought it for me. Then we found the outlet store and my collection has gotten larger for much cheaper.

22 cheryl November 4, 2009 at 11:42 am

I paid $3600. it's a L.V. Sad to say but I don't use it much. I have a Prada, 4 Coach bag,and 2 D.B and I use a Guess bag everyday. Yeah I have tons of handbags. The top shelf in my double closet is full of handbags. Macy's is my weakness. I do pull my coupons out of all of them. lol My daughter even has the Coach sneakers. Bad girl but I have to say I DO NOT USE CREDIT CARDS SO NO LATE FESS AND 29% STORE CC FEE.

23 Candice November 4, 2009 at 11:50 am

I have to be honest I was 18 years old, and just graduated from highschool, I paid $600 for a Dooney and Burke purse and wallet after weeks of not going out to lunch. I regret it now because it was such a waste but I still have that purse to this day and it looks great.. but I love my clearance target purses and my coach purses pretty much have all been purchased from the outlet or a gift..

24 Heather November 4, 2009 at 11:53 am

I got a large black bag at Kohl's last Christmas with a gift card. I think it was $50 full price but I don't remember what I paid in the end, but it wasn't much. I love being able to carry everything, but I hate not ever being able to find anything!
Before that, all my purses had been gifts or thrift store finds.

25 Julie November 4, 2009 at 12:19 pm

I think I spent $100 for a Vera Bradley purse and wallet...still have it, but I usually do not spend over $30 for a purse! I like to change it up too much, and oh yeah...I can't afford it!

26 Jessica November 4, 2009 at 12:42 pm

I am not a fan of Coach, or D & B, however, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kathy Van Zeeland purses. I won't spend anymore that $40.00 on a brand new one though. I find all of my fabulous finds on EBay. :)

27 NICOLE November 4, 2009 at 1:04 pm

28 Rebecca November 4, 2009 at 1:06 pm

The most I have ever paid for a purse was 150..and it was coach. I just bought it because I desperately needed a bag..and I'm ANTI LEATHER, too. Very stupid of me. There's a purse online I really want for 60 bucks (and it's fake leather, yay), but I can't bring myself to buy it..It's too much money. : (

29 Ann November 4, 2009 at 1:27 pm

I spent $400 on a Kate Spade purse at the outlet. It's a big brown bag, with some of the softest leather I've ever felt - so I splurged. I don't have kids yet though - so we'll see how pristine it stays over the years! I love Kate Spade, BCBG, and Cole Haan bags and tend to buy them at the outlets or at Nordstrom Rack.

Thanks for the coupon though - I can use it to get my mom a Coach scarf!

30 Laraine November 4, 2009 at 1:44 pm

Last Christmas my husband gave me a Marc Jacobs bag that was TO DIE FOR. I found out later he paid around $900 for it. I do love it though! Personally I think the most I have paid is around $225 for a Coach Diaper bag from the Outlet. Thanks for the coupon!

31 Jane November 4, 2009 at 1:54 pm

Back when I was spending waaayyyyy too much on everything, I spent about $1,500 dollars on a simple Gucci purse. I was in Korea so it was tax free! Then there was that time a few years ago I payed $765.34 for a monogram Louis Vuitton...and these are the cheap ones!...I have many, many other purses that I have no clue what the prices were...3 more LV and 1 Chanel. Ugh. Altogether I must've spent over $10,000 on these purses..

32 Joy November 4, 2009 at 2:14 pm

WHAT!?!?!?!? I had NO IDEA that people spent hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on purses! Well, I knew like movie stars and billionaires, but not regular gals! Maybe some of you are movie stars? haha I suppose if you all saw me with my $10 Sears clearance purse, I'd look like a purse hobo next to you. But, I think I'd rather be a purse hobo, armed with my coupon binder and have several hundred dollars to spend on something else.

33 Swap Savers November 4, 2009 at 2:42 pm

I used this coupon last year and was able to get a great deal. You can read about it here

34 Alleen November 4, 2009 at 3:58 pm

I have spent between $100 and $200 on various Brighton purses. They last forever.

35 laura November 4, 2009 at 4:17 pm

I think the most I've ever spent on a purse is $30. And I always use coupons but usually get them from Liz Claiborne love those purses!

36 Amanda Moak November 4, 2009 at 4:22 pm

I paid $500.00 for a Coach purse this past August. I admit it was a little steep but their purses last forever!

37 Rita November 4, 2009 at 4:47 pm

Joy, you made me laugh and only because I would be right there next to you with my $10 clearance bag thinking have they lost their MINDS????? I talked myself out of spending 19 .99 last night at Target, and I'm a purse person too. I LOVE purses!!! How about lets start some comments on the LEAST you've ever spent on a purse. Mine would be $1.25. I got it at Uptons when they were still around and was SO proud of my cheap purse. It was cute too! Why settle for one purse that costs $400 when for $400 I can buy 40 purses and a couple of pairs of shoes too. ha ha ha (still laughing)

38 Val November 4, 2009 at 6:04 pm

I get most of my purses at my favorite thrift store here in MN, Arc's Value Village. I have found some real cute ones there, but I do make sure they are in good shape. I check them inside and out. Usually I pay between $3-$6 for a purse.
The excellent thing is, when I buy at this thrift store, I am helping support people with Development Disabilities and their families. Arc is a great organization. I have used their services many times, because our son is autistic. So I love to shop there and support them. If you're a reader in MN Twin Cities area, try them out! is the website.
I can't say I'm a purse person, like Tara stated, I just put snotty tissues, a wallet and a comb in there, so I don't need it to be too foo-foo.

39 Joy November 4, 2009 at 6:25 pm

LOL Rita! I'm glad there is someone else with me!

40 TinaP November 4, 2009 at 7:16 pm

My daughter wanted a Coach purse for her high school graduation gift. My two sisters and myself bought her one for $300.00. We split the cost! I am sorry but that is insane.... I would never spend that kind of money for a purse.

41 HipMommaLuvsBlu November 4, 2009 at 7:51 pm

I am only submitting this since it is technically anonymous because I'm not a person to go around telling people how much I spend on things- whether it is a low price find or a high price splurge!... But I went to college in NYC and that is where it all first expensive bag over $50 was probably in the $200 range...a Juicy Couture..then it lead to Michael Kors and Marc By Marc Jacobs for between $300-$500, and I have spent around $1200-$1400 for a Dolce & Gabanna and a Fendi (they are beautiful, but I admit it is crazy), then have went back to the $300-$500 range now.. Marc By Marc Jacobs and Kooba. I would have to say that handbags and shoes are my worst weakness when it comes to spending, although I definitely still look for sales and coupon codes when buying these!...But it is funny because I am such a cheapskate about other purchases and won't spend very much on other things..who knows..but things have definitely changed... I had Desitin all over my bag the other day, lol.. not fun!

42 June November 4, 2009 at 7:58 pm

Wow! Some Price. No, I've never paid anything close.

It is really a pleasure to see someone who knows their stuff. Thanks for the insight.

43 Dee Dee November 4, 2009 at 9:12 pm

$198 for a clearence Brahmin at Dillards. Originally it was $400. I have to admit, I'm so frugal at so many things but I am a handbag nut.

44 Ife Oshun ( November 4, 2009 at 9:18 pm

I could EAT that purse above, it's so yummy, but I would never buy it, I'm too frugal. The most I've ever paid for a bag was less than $40.

45 Denise November 4, 2009 at 9:25 pm

The most Ive spent is $1400.00 on my first Louis Vuitton purse, wallet, and coin purse...and thats probably the last time
(I just had to have an original one)...And Ive spent about $600.00 on a coach purse and wallet...thats until I discovered that I can buy a purse, wallet and sunglasses for $400.00 at an outlet store...

46 evonne November 4, 2009 at 10:07 pm

Just got back from Coach tonite ! Love it ! paid $268 , actually i returned a purse and wallet i bought back in june that i never used and only had to pay an extra $13 for it

47 Kristine November 5, 2009 at 4:26 am

I too am a bag person but I'm not the type to buy bag upon bag. I more of the "research the history and origin of the bag" type so I only currently have 5 bags in my "collection." My most expensive bags: a Hermes Kelly (took me almost 1 year to find the color and material I wanted) and a Hermes Birkin (from my husband) both costing between 8,000-10,000.....hey, you said to be honest....

48 Deb November 5, 2009 at 9:40 am

I want a Coach! But, I wouldn't spend more than 200 for it.
But, the most I've ever spent on a purse...about $30! Yes, thirty! lol I have tons of purses, and can't imagine paying more than that for them! Unless it was a Coach, but I only want one! :)

49 Amanda Dean November 5, 2009 at 10:48 am

I'm shocked that some of you get your bags for $10! That's insane. The most I've ever paid for a bag was $498 (Coach). Well my husband paid that I guess since it was a b-day gift. This year too I got another handbag for $250 (Makowski). I bought myself a Coach handbag a few years back that was $350. All of them I love and get my money's worth. It's something you wear everyday and if you thinnk about it like that.. and you actually use them for a year at least then it's worth it. Hangbags and shoes are my weakness!

50 Donna Krum November 5, 2009 at 1:02 pm

Ok I will see a bag at target that I want for 19.99 and wait until it goes on sale for atleast half price before I will buy it. Or My little sister and I swap bags for a few months. I don't think that I could ever spend 50 on a bag and to see that moms are spending a ton more is unthinkable to me. I just couldn't do it.
