Recently, Walmart revised their coupon policy to allow for FREE items and overage. They now state that if the coupon is priced higher than the item, the difference will be applied to the rest of the basket. This is good news for those of you who have had problems using coupons on travel size items in the past.

You are actually wrong with your statement. Most coupons clearly state that they are for items larger than a trial size. Read the fine print.

Good morning. Just thought I’d point out that nowhere in DSM’s post does it say to use a coupon on travel items that state in the fine print a specific size or state “not valid on trial size”. There are many coupons (especially printables) that state “good on ANY…”, such as those above. Those that do not specify any other requirements or restrictions CAN be used on trial/travel sized items despite the prices usually being slightly lower than the coupon value. This would then allow the difference from the coupon to be applied to the rest of your total. Before this change, many couponers could still get items free but not take advantage of the overage (despite the fact that the retailer would be reimbursed for the face value and wouldn’t be “out” anything). Thankfully Walmart has taken a huge step with their updated coupon policy by passing on this savings to the customer, because unlike so many other retailers that simply adjust down the coupon and then get reimbursed for the full value, Walmart has now recognized they are not losing anything. So as always, absolutely read the fine print, but if a coupon says “ANY” and no restrictions, have fun shopping the trial/travel aisles! Hope this helps! :)

actually I’ve worked in retail very long now.. and if the coupon says that it has to be larger than a trial size it still has to be. The wording hasn’t changed. AND the reason that I posted wasn’t to offend.. it was so moms out there that are going shopping won’t have that confusion or that hassle at the checkouts.

Any one else have a problem with the Kool Aiod coupon? When I went to print it, it shut my computer down! Tried on my laptop and whe I hit print, it started to send it to my printer and then I got an error from WIndows saying it was going to shut down! :(

I have a couple coupons that read ANY purex and then I also have coupons that read EXCLUDE trial size, so just be careful and watch the fine print. Also there is a coupon inside the trial size purex and it reads 1 off purex EXCEPT trial size……..

The Wal-Mart in Phenix City, AL does not know about the new coupon policy that credits the shopper for overages. Best to bring a copy of the coupon policy with you
