Walgreens: Test Market Rewards Program Being Discontinued

December 2, 2011 by Stacy @ Saving in Akron 4 Comments

Walgreens Deals

If you are one of the unfortunate people who live in one of the Walgreens’ test markets and have suffered through the past year trying to get great deals, then I have some good news for you.  As of December 31, 2011, Walgreens will be discontinuing it’s pilot program in the those markets.

As of January 1, 2012:

  • You will no longer need the program card to get the sale price advertised in the weekly circular
  • Walgreens will no longer be issuing rewards after this date
  • If you have a minimum of 2000 points, you will be eligible to redeem them.  You’ll want to hold on to your program card and/or key tags until after you’ve redeemed all of your points.  You can check your points balance at www.walgreensrewards.com

As of January 31, 2012:

  • You will no longer be able to redeem points after this date.  Any points not redeemed by January 31, 2012 will be forfeited.

Walgreens has stated that they are in the process of designing a new program, but there are no details yet.

Everyone in the test market area earned points instead of RRs. They are discontinuing the points and giving back the RRs for people in those markets.

Hooray! We didn’t have nearly the rewards in the test market – so happy to see us join the rest of the nation in the rewards! Yippee!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
