Toys R Us: $10 Gift Card Deal Over

November 12, 2010 by Deal Seeking Mom 14 Comments

Unfortunately, it looks like Toys R Us has pulled the $10 gift card wyb $35 in Hasbro games deal due to an overwhelming response, so don’t make a special trip for this one. Definitely disappointing, but there will be plenty of toy deals in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Thanks, For the Mommas!

That’s crazy that they did that! Nothing like deciding they were having too good of a deal and wanted to make more $$.

I went last night and bought $45 in games that clearly qualified. The system didn’t prompt them to give me a GC so they wouldn’t do anything. I was so annoyed! I returned the games and left. TRU does this to me almost every time there is a good deal to be had there. Not cool!

I couldn’t agree MORE!!! Last Nov on “Black Friday” I vowed to NEVER shop Toys R Us again! It was a total nightmare in the insanely crowded store. The items that were on “sale” were not the items that they had on display. People were asking questions and the staff was SO RUDE & did not honor many of the “advertised deals.” NEVER AGAIN! :(

i was just saying this exact thing to my husband today. I’ve gone 3 x’s this past year to get in on deals and everytime i’ve been very disolusioned by the time i shopped there! SO FRUSTRATING to drag a 3yr old and a 1yr old to a TOY STORE of all places just to have to leave empty-handed b/c they couldn’t honor the sale price or didn’t stock items.

I did make a special trip yesterday, but the manager of the store I visited was nice enough to give me $10 off on the spot. :)

@ Cheryl – don’t be mad. TRU always has so many problems.. they either wouldn’t have had the products or wouldn’t have given you the GC. typical TRU…

I went Wednesday night and spent $45. The system did not prompt her to give me the $10 gift card. The manager came over and manually did one. The casheir didn’t even know what I was talking about. Very disappointed and wondering how many people missed out because the computer did not work right.

I went last night and between my husband and I we spent $110 on games. It didn’t prompt for the gift card but the signs in the store clearly stated the promotion so after much discussion they overrode 1 gave from each transaction to make a $10 card for each of us.

Our Toys R Us gave me $10 off my purchase since they didn’t have any gift cards left – but I did get attitude and really can’t stand shopping there! :-( I think I am done with them for the season!

My manager (Houston) over rode this as did my SIL’s in Austin.

Tara — could you PLEASE provide a link on how/where to contact ToysRUs corporate so all of us can write letters/notes to them (ideally on-line form)?!?!?! The voice of the customer is worth hearing for this kind of junk they just pulled on the general public!
The nerve to do a nationwide campaign with PRINT signage and ads — to shortly after pull their promise to reward customers for shopping!

I totally agree with Rachel – any place where we could contact would be great! I went in today to get Bakugan with my 3yo son who had waited all day for the 3pm 50% off coupon to start. He wanted to Bakutin and the coupon said “playsets and accessories”. Assuming that was an accessory we took it to the register only to be told that it was only the 2 items pictured that the coupon qualified for. Uggghhhh! Try explaining that to a 3yo – I want to tell them that they are already losing a customer – after this he looked at me and said “Mommy, we can get it at Target right” – with money he had earned from taking care of the cats’ food and water – I am very irked at TRU to say the least!

I was furious when the cashier said they ran out of gift cards after ringing up so I had to return all of items but she said the ad said “while supplies last”. Yeah, I told her why didn’t they post the sign in front or by shelf so I wouldn’t have to figure out the amount of toys to get to $35 and to save my time! Manager said oh yeah but won’t do anything about it!
