Make sure you don’t use coupons or your Staples Rewards to pay for it; otherwise, you only will get the difference back.

So do you have to pay at the cash register or do they just scan your card and poof it’s free?

You have to pay at the register and then add your receipt online. Then they send you a prepaid debit card with that amount on it, I believe.

Tami, that’s incorrect. You’re getting this mixed up with the Easy Rebates, in which you would add the receipt online and get it back in the form of a check/gift card.

For this deal, you need to sign up for a Staples Rewards card first if you don’t already have it…make sure that they scan that before you pay at the register. You then pay for it + any taxes, and check your account online in a few weeks. Your Staples Rewards check would be ready for you to print out, and you can redeem at any Staples store.

You CAN use a coupon to pay for this. If you use a $10 off $50 coupon, that amount gets pro-rated against everything you buy that transaction. These are $12.99, so if your total is $52, $2.50 will be taken off of these, which means you only pay $10.49 for them, and you only pay sales tax on that amount (so I would save an extra .15 here in PA and less out of pocket). Now the rewards will also be reduced to $10.49 as well, but you do save money this way! Also, the cashier can scan your reward card at anytime in the transaction, doesn’t have to be first thing! Reward check shows up the following month usually around the 20th, now by e-mail only. Hope this clears things up a little bit.
