Restaurant.com: $25 Gift Cards Starting at Just $2!

May 27, 2010 by Deal Seeking Mom 8 Comments

Restaurant.com

Use coupon code FLAG to receive 80% off at Restaurant.com and purchase $25 gift certificates for as low as $2. When you order through your Shop At Home account, you’ll also receive 25% cash back, which means each one will only cost you $1.50.  And to sweeten it even further, new Shop At Home members will receive a $5 credit, making this a great way to score free gift certificates!

Many of these gift certificates require you to make a minimum purchase of $35 to $50, but if you have a large family like we do, you easily spend that much on a single meal, and you’ll still be able to treat the whole family for as low as $12 if you do it carefully!

Offer expires 5/31/10.

Thanks, The Thrifty Mama!

I always try to buy these, but they have so many restrictions on them… like, you have to spend $50 in order to use a $25 card. It still saves you money, but makes you spend money you may not have in the first place, and some are only for dinner or lunch use.

I couldn’t find anything to work for us either. Almost every restaurant in our area tacks on a 18 percent gratuity restriction. Once you add that on to a pricey meal and then take off the gift card it ends up being just a few dollars that are saved. It’s not really what it seems.

all the ones in our area that i’ve looked at have a $25 gift certificate that can be off of $35 or more. So that’s the best deal. They try to convince you that the biggest is the best deal but if you go with friends and can split into smaller groups then it’s best to do it that way. If I buy $35 worth of food plus 18% gratuity that would be $41.30 ($6.30 gratuity) minus $25 gift certificate is $16.30 for $35 worth of food. So you’re paying less than 50% of the original check plus tip is covered. Otherwise it may not be that great but if you do it that way it’s a pretty good deal!

well we usually try to tip at least 15% anyway so if you get a good waiter then you get a great deal if you don’t and you still have to give 18% then that kinda stinks

i actually don’t find this deal worth it either. couldn’t find a great restaurant so i’d rather spend the 17.00 or so dollars at a restaurant my belly and family really enjoys without feeling obligated to get this just because its a good deal.

Thanks for sharing this! I thought it was a great deal – we got 4 $25 gift certificates to our favorite Mexican restaurant for a total of $8.00! We always tip 20% so the required 18% was no big deal and I can’t feed my family of four at any sitdown restaurant for $18.00 anywhere – honestly we spend more than that at Burger King!

Took all 6 of us using for the first time the $25 certificate. Our total bill was $84. Yikes. We usually don’t eat out much because it’s expensive. Don’t if the certificate saved us or not. I think the difference ended up being $15. Drinks were not calculated with the meal, but after, and the certificate said we should tip since the gratuity is not tip, so It saved some, but not as good as I expected. I was looking to paying maybe under $35 not $69. Next time I want to dine out I’m going to create a dining experience at home, by cooking.
