Nielsen Consumer Panel Accepting Applications

May 14, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski 14 Comments

Looking for a fun way to earn some great prizes? Then you might be interested in signing up for the Nielsen Consumer Panel.

Panel members are provided with a hand-held scanner, and then every time you or members of your household shop, you’ll use the scanner to scan the bar codes on all of your purchases. Upload your data to Nielsen once a week to earn gift points that are redeemable for name-brand merchandise, including electronics equipment, jewelry, household items, toys, and much more!

I’ve been a Nielsen Consumer panelist in the past and enjoyed it very much. Nielsen is great about walking you through technical issues, so don’t worry about feeling overwhelmed. Note that it was several months before I heard from them when I signed up – they have a limited number of openings available in each area.

The Nielsen Consumer Panel isn’t for everyone, but you can try it risk free. They’ll provide you with a self-addressed, postage-paid box so you can return everything if you decide it’s not for you!

none available in my area either. someone posted on facebook that it is a pain to do though. She said you have to scan everything, put the price in, tell it if you are using a coupon. And she said you really don’t get anything good from the products you can get. Anyone else have any feedback?

brigitte…I agree, I thought it was way too time consuming for very little return, I sent my scanner back. There are other options wtih better return for your time : )

I was a panelist too and OMG it was horrible!! It was way too time consuming, half the time it didn’t work right, and it the rewards took forever to add up. It’s definitely not for everyone!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
