Hi There – as with the other items, you will learn to recognize good prices in time. I’ve been at it for 6 months and I can only spot 20% or so of the best prices. Even though something is on a blog – if it doesn’t say FREE its hard to know if its the best deal. Some keep a price book – I haven’t yet. My excuse is no time to write one up. I’m sure when I do it will be a lot easier though…. Do you have a price book? Just search “grocery price book” for help getting one started. Most sales come around every 4 months or less — I’ve seen food stuff go on and off sale every few weeks… Hear is a tid bid from me, in my area (central ohio) 1/2 Gal milk (reg, FF, etc) is best priced at $1.25 (I try to buy the smaller ones)…. Green Giant BOX veggies, best price is $1 then usually a .60 cent on 3 coupon (that doubles) makes them .60 cents a box… Cereal – $1 or less a box after coupons … I aim for .50 cents … Cheese .50 cents to $1 a pack (Kraft, Sargento, etc). A trick I learned was to get blinkies from my Kroger and use them at Giant Eagle. They are manufacturer’s coupons and good anyhwere. You can score much better deals that way (i.e. as much FREE pepsi 2 lts as you want!) Fresh fruits veggies etc can be hard deals to come by, so the best bet there is to know the best prices for the current season… I know strawberries in my area go down to $1.25 a lb — and grapes .99 lb… And now is a great time to stock up on snacks and cookies. I just purchased 12 good sized bags of christmas themed butter cookies with an Aug/12 expiration from Meijer for .27 cents each. Not bag for quick treats… GOOD LUCK!
