As 2010 winds down, now is a great time to set some financial management and savings goals for the coming year. I thought it would be a good time to mention one of my favorite FREE money management tools, Mint.com.
Mint helps you do more with your money. Track your finances in real time, get alerts when you exceed budgeted amounts, and pinpoint ways to save more, all in one easy to use interface. And did I mention it’s FREE?!? Plus Mint offers apps that will allow you to track your finances on the go. I love that I can get a quick overview of our accounts in an instant with my iPhone.
Or perhaps you’d prefer something in an Excel spreadsheet format. Try this FREE 2011 Savings Tracker if so!

My concern with the Mint website…giving my username and passwords to some “free” website. Sounds scary to me. I do love the link for the Excel program from the other blog! thanks!

I have a download for a budget spreadsheet that is an Excel document – which means no need to put personal info online. It’s free as well and you can download it here: https://www.homemakingexpert.com/2011/01/i-have-seen-several-posts-lately-about.html

love*Love*LOVE! Mint. I’ve been using it for years. I categorize every transaction I make, and can monitor expenses for categories across all my accounts. Definitely recommend!

Is there any other good free or close to free software like Mint? I tried it but it cannot connect to my bank even after sending them a message to customer service.

Mint is great and completely secure. I have been using them for over a year. If you use Swagbucks.com, you can sign up from their Deals page and get free swagbucks.
Jen, I don’t think there are any comparable free websites. I searched for a long time. Outright.com is the closest sight I know of and it’s geared toward small business. It’s worth checking out though if you think you might be able to work around the business features.
