Consumer Recalls: Wal-Mart Electric Heaters + More

There have been several consumer recalls over the past couple of days that may affect Deal Seeking Mom readers. Please refer to the links included in each section for more details about the specific recalls:

Walmart Electric Heaters

About 2.2 million Flow Pro, Airtech, Aloha Breeze & Comfort Essentials Heaters, sold exclusively in Walmart Stores nationwide from December 2001 through October 2009, have been recalled because the heaters can malfunction resulting in overheating, smoking, burning, melting and fire.  The recalled heaters are grey with a metal handle on the top and grey control knobs on the front, and were sold for about $18.  The model number is 1013 and can be found on a label on the lower left corner of the back panel of the heater.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled heater and return the product to any Walmart store for a full refund.  For additional information contact Walmart, toll-free at 800-925-6278 between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website.

Other Recalls

  • Desk and Table Lamps
  • Sterno Portable Butane Stoves
  • Girls’ Hooded Zip Jacket and Vest Sets
  • Fagor Refrigerators
  • STIHL Trimmers/Brushcutters

Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

We don’t have any of the recalled models this time, but we’ve previously owned 2 recalled Aloha Breeze heaters that we purchased from Walmart. One died with no other issues, but the second one smoked & melted the plastic case. I’m surprised Aloha Breeze is even still manufacturing heaters, since it seems their name constantly pops up on recall lists for them. I don’t know if they make anything else, but I can guarantee, I won’t be trying them out.

Thank you! I have this heater. It’s going back soon.
