There is a minimum deposit of $0.51. Not that it’s a big deal, just clarifying. Also I am having trouble with it allowing me to open more than one account. Even though the child is technically a new customer, it’s telling me that we are an existing customer because an adult has to be the overseer of the account. Hope I can get it figured out!

I’m on account #3 right now — yay! The key is to select that you’re opening an account for a child that is new to ING Direct on the “Open New Kids Savings Account” screen.

Tara – I was having the same issue as Angela. I call ING and was told it was one per household. When I pushed the issue stating that the guidlines did not state one per household, they gave me a reference number to use for my other children. Since I was not a current customer, I have to wait for my bank account to be verified. Once this is done, then I can add the other children using the reference number they gave me.

Okay, that makes sense then. I’m already an ING account holder, so I was able to fund everything directly. Thanks for the update!

Just opened an account for each one of my boys. ING’s been good to us over the years and I saw that their Canadian site was offering a deal on the kids’ accounts a while ago, so I’m glad to get in on this deal. Thanks for posting!

Just hung up with ING Customer Service. Our bonuses didn’t show up in our accounts automatically so the Associate had to manually post the bonuses. Great CS!

It would only let me open one and then told me I had to call them when I tried to open the second. I called them and they told me I couldn’t open my second one until the first is verified but they gave me a code to use so I still get the $25. Maybe because I myself was new to ING???

I totally messed this up – my husband is technically our existing account holder but I somehow created myself an account and put one of my kids under me before realizing I could put them all under him… The CS people were VERY nice but they still don’t know if they can merge our family into one account! Ha! Oops :)

Oh and none of them automatically got the $25 – we had to have CS manually do it.

I did the same thing.. I opened my account today as a new customer, but when I went to open the kids accounts, it said I had to verify the 2 small deposits from my checking account.

So I called them, and they gave me a unique reference code to use for their accounts. must be used by Dec 15th!

Either way.. very very nice deal! Thanks so much!

Great deal!!!!!! I just signed my daughter up for an account and also opened a checking account – I’ll be getting $103 after I make 7 purchases using my new debit card within 45 days – no problem! I’ve had an ING savings account for over 4 years now and love them! better interest on my savings than with my reg. bank. Thanks again!!!!!!!! **oh and I had to call to get my $25.00 posted to my daughters account as well. CS was excellent!

We are doing our home loan through them–had we waited another few days we would have saved another 1000 on closing costs!!! Oh well. I have been with ING since they moved over to US 10 years ago–absolutely love them!

Friday: I was able to open my new ING account without a hitch… BUT when I attempted to open the Kids Savings Account for my son. I wasn’t able to do so, even tho it would have been linked to my new checking account. The site kept kicking me out. So then I called Customer Service. The woman I spoke with was very nice. She attempted to open the savings account also, but was not able to do so, even though I had all the necessary ID numbers, etc. I wanted to open this account as a surprise for my son, who has a hard time saving $$ (but he does give me a large portion of his paycheck). Well, she wasn’t able to open ANY account for him, since he is not a minor. Excuse me, he’s still my KID!! Nowhere does the site SPECIFY the “KID” must be a minor!! I was planning on transfering a portion of what he gives me directly into his savings account, since the accounts would be “connected.” She refused to open the KIDS account, in spite of the fact I was able to furnish ALL the security identity/information necessary. Since he’s no longer a minor, he is welcome to open a savings account on his own, but would not qualify for the BONUS. I don’t think this is fair!!

I realize this is an older post, but I just had to point out after reading this, that it absolutely does in one of the first statements say the account holder has to be a child under 18

Just wondering if anyone has gotten their $103 for the checking account yet? I think it has been exactly 50 days since I opened mine (and I made over the 7 required debits within the first two weeks of having the account). But I have yet to recieve the bonus.

Pam, Not yet =( They said it would be in my account today (the 17th) so if it’s not deposited by tomorrow I’ll be giving them another call.

I’d be surprised if it shows up today since it’s a bank holiday, so I’d give them tomorrow to deposit it.

So, no $103 today. I called and told the customer service lady that I hadn’t gotten my Black Friday bonus yet. So in about 30 seconds she said, “Okay, it’s all done! Your $50 is deposited!” And I told her it was not $50, but $103. So then she asked if $100 was okay and I said that wasn’t the deal! So she put me on hold and came back several minutes later to say they were having problems (I guess with all the Black Friday accounts) and within two days I should get my $103.

I had a very similar problem. No money was deposited in my account today either. When I called the rep said it should have been deposited over the weekend. He did some research and the best I was told is that he is sending the information over to “Correct Department” and the bonus should be deposited by the end of the week. Once deposited the bonus will then be on hold for an additional 30 days. I will wait to see if it shows, but looks like I may need to be calling again by the end of the week. Looks like they were overwhelmed by the popularity of this deal!

Still waiting!!! I had emailed them last week, was told it would be there by the end of the day. It was not! Then I called I was told that the rep on the phone can not post that amount and it needed to go to a different rep. Was told once again it should be there by today! Guess what…it was not! A rep had emailed me stating that there is a known glitch with posting the bonuses, and it will be there in 2-3 business days. This is getting to be a bit ridiculous already. I will wait and see if its there! I feel like I keep getting the run around!

I also called them today, and I spoke with a woman who said it should be deposited today, worse case it would show up tomorrow. I wonder if they are just waiting for people to call to request the bonus to save money? Like the ones who don’t notice and don’t take the time to call just won’t get it?

Between me, my husband, and 2 daughters we’ve had 7 bonuses post without having to call or have any problems. I think people are just anxious about it and not waiting long enough for them to process all of the bonuses. The time they give really is an estimate! Wait an extra week or two before you freak out.

BTW the bonuses were over the course of several years. Believe it or not, ING is the one bank that is NOT trying to screw you.
