Free Magazine Subscriptions Roundup

July 14, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski 8 Comments

I believe I mentioned this when I was blogging back at Life with Five, but for my newer readers, here’s the scoop on free magazine subscriptions. I haven’t actually paid for a magazine subscription in years. It’s a little known fact that magazines often offer free subscriptions to boost their readership numbers to make them more attractive to advertisers. Magazines make most of their money off of the advertisements, not the subscriptions, so the more readers they can boast, the more valuable that makes them in the eyes of potential advertisers.

I’ll be posting more free magazines opportunities as I come across them, but you usually must act fast to get them, as they don’t last long. Also, even if you already subscribe to a magazine, go ahead and sign up for the free subscriptions. They will just tack the free subscription on to the end of your current subscription!

Currently there are several new free magazine subscriptions available from ValueMags.com. There are absolutely no strings attached!

That’s a great tip for recycling magazines when you’re done with them! Thanks, Audrey’s Momma!

I get a lot of magazines for free also. Check out http://www.redtag.org for magazines in your area. You just tell them cover date and delivery date for each mag and they’re yours. Varies depending on what they have avaialable for your area. Other ideas for passing them on: doctors, dentists, hospital wating rooms, nursing homes, and repair shops. Many car places only have men mags for some reason. And many are VERY old. I pass a lot of mine to people with interests in a certain mag, like Tennis goes to my daughter’s tennis coach, a Spanish mag goes to her Spanish teacher, Cycle World to a motorcycle friend, etc. If you buy mags, order them through http://www.qsp.com, they gve money to your local school and some are much cheaper there also.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
