Changes to the Target Coupon Policy

June 19, 2012 by Beth @ In Good Cents 2 Comments

Target Grocery Coupons

If you coupon at Target, there’s a few changes to the Target Coupon Policy that you’ll want to check out!

  • Limit 4 identical coupons per household, per day (unless otherwise noted on the coupon). I’m not sure how they plan to enforce this, since Target doesn’t have store loyalty cards to track household purchases. Watch for wording on coupons that may limit you to using less than four.
  • Returns of items purchased using Manufacturer Coupons may receive coupon value returned in the form of a Target Gift Card. So, if you buy Glade Candles on sale for $2.99 and use the $1 off 1 Glade Spring Collection coupon, you’ll get $1.99 back like a regular return and $1 will be returned to you in the form of a Target gift card. Keep in mind that value of Target coupons are never returned.
  • We reserve the right to accept, refuse, or limit the use of any coupon. This is true of all places that accept manufacturer coupons. They can refuse them for just about any reason. Hopefully stores won’t use this policy to limit the deals we are able to snag.
  • We do not accept Canadian coupons in our U.S. stores.

I like how they will refund you the money you spent using manufacturer coupons in the form of a gift card. Most stores just deduct the money you used in coupons and you never see any of it back (just give you back your out of pocket).

Also make note that they will not accept a manufacturer coupon if it is sent to you by another store. I was there just a few days ago with a MANUFACTURER coupon that was sent to me by Kroger & they would not accept it. Actually, the system took it & then the girl took it off & said they had a new policy & they didn’t accept them anymore. (They used to). This was NOT a store coupon, nor was it a coupon that could only be used at Kroger. All other stores accept them & Target used to, but they have changed their policy. Guess what I did? I had her to remove the items from my bill & did not purchase them from Target. They are just going to lose more business. Shame on Target for not accepting ALL manufacturer coupons
