Whenever we run out of gift ideas for our four girls to offer the grandparents, my default answer is pretty much “books or something Melissa & Doug”.

When they arrived, my husband and I quickly unpacked the boxes to see for ourselves (the big reveal for the girls will have to wait until Christmas morning!). What I love most is that the sturdy train table offers a place for all four girls to play together, and it can be used not only for the classic wooden train set but also for their doll house, building blocks or as a table for their arts & crafts.

The train set itself offers a ton of possible configurations and is sure to keep them busy for hours, and I have a feeling our 3-year-old will spend most of Christmas Day dressed up as a train engineer!

    We’re expecting our first, so our child doesn’t have a favorite. But my favorite growing up was a wooden paddle boat my Grandpa made for me.

    M & D favorite is a couple of puzzles we have, and we also have some wooden cars she races around the living room!

    Our kids love their Thomas wooden train sets and the Melissa and Doug locking board with all the different locks and animals! Good for them to learn the different locks, but now they know how to unlock certain things around the house. A couple of friends are going to get the locking board from us for Christmas!!
