I get dozens, sometimes even hundreds, of emails and comments each week about coupon issues at Walmart. I know this is a pain point for many of you, so I have some great news.

I don’t have a problem with the Walmart itself, just a couple cashiers. I look for them and avoid them. Other cashiers take my Qs w/ no problem. But I generally use the bulk of my coupons at Dillons (owned by Kroger) or Walgreens. I have never had a problem with either of these places. Usually the cashiers at my Dillon’s store want to know about DSM and other ways that I get coupons. The people in line also ask questions when they overhear our conversation. Overall, couponing is a great experience in stores. Like I said I have run into a couple “bad” cashiers but I don’t let them persuade me from getting a good bargain with a sale and a coupon. Tara, we should start coupon clubs, like a book club, in someone’s home. It could be whenever it was needed, once a week, etc. I go to a small university and I’m thinking about starting this. Maybe posting flyers around campus. Word would spread fast between professors, staff, and their families, also the kids could get involved, as well as their parents. Not everyone can afford to buy the local paper anymore and not everyone has a computer to print. Our campus just started charging us to print. If you’re a couponer then you’re a good organizer so why not take it to the grassroots level? Store managers or district managers could be invited to speak to issues about couponing and employee training. We don’t live far from Bentonville (Walmart HQ) so it may be a possibility they would come and speak. I know, I know….there are lots of reasons it might not work…but you don’t know until you try. And what can the companies say to an invite to speak to their consumers…except NO…and boy wouldn’t local media love to pick up that story!!!

I noticed this survey is from survey monkey. Is this really from Walmart. I took the survey and have been slammed with emails from places offering me free coupons for everywhere but they are not legit. I know nothing else I have done to have triggered these/

Linda, I appreciate your concern. The survey is definitely legitimate. I work closely with Walmart as part of their Walmart Moms program (formerly Elevenmoms), and they gave us this survey to help gather feedback for them. I just checked the survey and it doesn’t request any personal information whatsoever, so it sounds like the spam you’re receiving is coming from somewhere else.

This is about my experience when a customer in front of me used coupons. I went in got about 150 bucks worth of stuff, a lot of it their great value product. I hardly ever use coupons maybe one or two a month. Well there were three carts in front of me and I waited in line for about 15 min or so( always a long wait). The cart in front of me was finished up. Mind you I had already put my stuff on the counter. Well just as the lady is about to pay she pulls out a HUGE WAD of coupons. I swear she must have had a coupon for EVERY item in her cart. I sighed and figured well, at least the cashier will scan them quickly. WRONG. The cashier began to point out, read and argue over EVERY SINGLE COUPON. I waited another 15 min and then found a manager and asked to please have someone ring me up I had been waiting and waiting. Well the manager saw the coupon lady, and the cashier was still going at it with this lady. The manager say ‘well can you pay cash?’ because apparently he empty cashier in front of me had a broken reader. I said ‘no’.. then she said well i cant help you. I said ‘look, I intend to leave this cart here if you cant help me out I have something to do’ The manager said ‘im sorry i cant help you’. I just shook my head (im pretty pissed by now) and said “well ok, i guess you dont want my money that bad” and left my full cart right there in the aisle. I complained and submitted feedback on this incident to Walmart but I have yet to hear back from them. So the moral of the story is you coupon people are CRAZY! Saving money is one thing, but to put customers at so much inconvenience is NOT FAIR! Just shop smart, I always find the cheaper or generic stuff and I end up saving just as much money as if I used coupons.
