*HOT* Van Bourgondien: $10 off Any Plants or Bulbs Purchase + FREE Shipping

by Tara Kuczykowski on January 21, 2011 · 45 comments

Right now you can get a $10 credit toward any Van Bourgondien purchase plus FREE shipping on your order! I was able to get 20 strawberry plants completely free with this offer.

Update: It looks like they've pulled the save $10 offer. Sorry!

Here's how to place your order:

  • First click on the "Join our Newsletter - SAVE $10" button in the upper right and register your email address. You'll receive a coupon code for $10 off any purchase almost immediately.
  • Choose the item(s) you'd like to purchase and add them to your cart.
  • Checkout putting your $10 off code in the gift certificate box and KA1709R (FREE shipping through 1/23) in the promo code box.

As with all deals of this nature, there's always the possibility that they will cancel the $0 orders, but you don't need to input any credit card information to place it.

What did you order using these codes?

Hmmm... I signed up and got a thank you for signing up email but not a coupon code. Did anyone else get the code?

I got the thank you with no code also. I'm thinking maybe I comes in a separate email a little later. But I have my cart ready for when it comes. :)

I didn't get a code either...and I noticed that the button in the top right corner used to say "join our newsletter - save $10" and it now just says "join our newsletter" - I think they've stopped the deal. :(

Thanks anyway though! That site still has free shipping and pretty good bulb prices :)

I'd suggest everyone to email them about this and say they expect the $10 credit since they just signed up with the free $10 credit. I've been seeing this as a common thing with websites. Dealpulp did it as well. They removed their promo because it didn't work with their current offer, but I just signed up. If this website doesn't post it we can dispute with BBB.org and report them for bait and switch...as you can't do that!

Since this is a dead deal, maybe you could make a notation on the post about it, so others don't fall for the same bait and switch trick?

Damn, I could have used this to get vegetable seeds :(

I called the company and complained. They gave me the code over the phone. I don't know how long this will work or if it will work again, but it might be worth trying.

I did the same, on my second call with them, they gave me the code over the phone, too. They were nice enough to deal with but I have read a lot of bad reviews on the company so I made sure not to spend over $10, (therefore not costing me any money out of pocket). I'll see if and when it shows up, I did not get an order confirmation email from them after I placed the order.

I didn't order over $10 either just because we didn't have extra money this week. It took a couple of hours to get my confirmation email.

I called them and they said the promo expired today and is no longer available. :(

I e-mailed them as well ~ it said $10.00 when I signed up but now just says Join our newsletter ~ dang it had my strawberries in the cart & ready to roll!! lol I'll see if they e-mail back!

I called the company and they said there must have been a "Hacker" that got into their website and put the $10.00 button up. really???

Reply

32 Tara Kuczykowski January 21, 2011 at 2:10 pm

Oh my, now THAT is hilarious! And that same hacker setup their system so that it would actually issue the codes AND accept them at checkout? Sheesh!

33 Dizzy Mommy January 21, 2011 at 2:36 pm

Same thing I was told, hacker... which I disputed with the person... since my brother is a legal hacker, he works for companies breaking their systems to test there security. Couldn't answer anything and then said the rumor is... it was a hacker...lol.

If anyone needs it, I still had a window open that showed the Save $10 button so I took a screenshot of it.

I didn't get the $10 off code either, but I wanted to share this code I found, KA1767R it is for 50% off, depends on how much you order but it might be better than the free shipping code!

37 JoR January 21, 2011 at 3:36 pm

I sent them an email and they replied with a 10$ code. I just placed a free order. Thank you.

They just emailed my code and my order is placed...I went over a bit and tried to use paypal but they wouldn't take it! So I downgraded my order to under $10.00 and it went through. Now we'll see if they really do ship it :)

I emailed....and got no code :( boo.

Dear Tonja,

I do apologize for any inconvenience to you. There was a web site that showed that promotion without our consent. They are not affiliated with us. They and many others like them, simply post promotional codes without giving all of the information, such as the expiration date and any other limitations. They create the hyperlink, not our company. So we made a desision as a company not to offer the promotion to anyone until this gets clear.

Thank you for your email. If you should have any further questions feel free to contact us again via email, or call our customer service department at 1-800-622-9959 Mon-Fri during the hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm EST.

Thank you for choosing Van Bourgondien,

*Rolling my eyes* Do companies really think that people don't talk about them online? No one needs consent to post factual information.

43 Tonja January 22, 2011 at 9:45 pm

Well....Kuddos to you Tara, you must be one hell of a hacker! lol. Whatever. I would have ordered a lot with them because I grow organic produce every year. Oh well. They lost my business. Not because they didn't honor it. I would get that, but because I got two paragraphs of BS. They could have just said, "look, we didn't expect that kind of response, we can't fulfill those requirements, etc, blah blah." I totally would have understood and been cool with that. I get it. But when it appears as though someone (especially someone I don't know) thinks I am stupid, I pretty much write them off.
I think you do a rockin' job! Keep up the awesome work. You have a lot of silent followers out there and we all appreciate everything you do :)

Just wondered if anyone else successfully placed an order with this company and then recieved a letter in the mail saying they are going to cancel your order if you do not pay them $7.95 for shipping? Even though I have an invoice from them showing my balance is $0.00 ?!?!

I was just wondering about this earlier. I haven't received a shipment notification, but I haven't received anything in the mail either.
