Learn How Wheat Works + Donate To Operation Homefront FREE

February 15, 2010 by Tara Kuczykowski 1 Comment

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Wheat Food Council. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you ever stopped to think about all of the knowledge, patience, and hard work that’s gone into that pre-sliced loaf of bread that many of us casually pick up during our weekly grocery shops? Honestly, I haven’t given it much thought either, but the Wheat Foods Council has created an educational and eye-opening tool that provides all of this information and more while benefitting needy U.S. Troops and their families.

Visit How Wheat Works and register to learn, well, how wheat works! When you register and complete each of the four phases — growth, harvest, milling/baking and the grocer’s aisle — you’ll have gained a new appreciation for that loaf of bread. Each phase takes only a few minutes to complete, and when you confirm your participation, the Council will donate two pounds of flour, up to 90,000 pounds, to Operation Homefront!

What a fantastic way to give back to others that costs you only a few minutes of your time. Better yet, share the experience with your family and make it an educational experience for all.

I’ve only made it through the first phase, but I’ve learned several interesting facts about wheat, including that there have been grains found that date back over 10,000 years in Egypt and southwest Asia!

Visit How Wheat Works, to learn about wheat and complete the four phases to donate two pounds of flour to Operation Homefront. I hope you’ll share what you learned from the experience here on Deal Seeking Mom!

This is a great idea! I signed up and have finished my first phase, guess I will finish a phase every 24 hours. Feels good to give a few minutes each time and know there will be flour given to US Troops in need.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
