Are people still so gullible that they’re thinking that ANYTHING at Walgreens is “free”? Actually, NOTHING is. I’ve done the math and been an extreme couponer for 13 years. Because of all the coupon and register reward restrictions Wags imposes, the best anyone can hope for is half price. You do your readers a disservice when you indicate that any of their items are free. Just sayin’.

It can be a challenge, but I’ve always been able to use the RRs on more “freebies” or things I actually need that have been on sale. They do impose a lot of restrictions, and it’s certainly time consuming to find good ways to use them sometimes, but I’ve always been successful. Therefore, I’m all about the “freebies”. I just don’t get tons of them. Limiting yourself and putting in additional effort on the spending side are the keys to success with RR items. :)

I don’t shop much at Walgreen’s anymore, just because their RR program is too time consuming. But the way I look at the “free” item that I’m getting a RR coupon valued to make the item free, is that if there is something else I need/always buy anyway and I can put it towards that item I’m reducing my cost. It’s basically just a matter of how you do the math in your head.

My mom only liked these certain vitamins that we could only find at Walgreens (not Walmart or Target, but I did recently find them on Amazon). If she was going to buy the vitamins anyway, I’d let her know about a free item (like the Fiber thing this week for $9.99), then she could turn around and use the RR on her vitamins and it was like she got a bonus with the vitamins. It all depends on how you look at it. I don’t believe anything is free (there is always tax), but if you work it right, you can get some great deals.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
