My 3 year old has not started learning how to read yet, but is very smart (if I may say so myself - LOL!) so I do not believe he will have any trouble learning how to read. I know he would LOVE the SmartyAnts Phonics Reading Pup! ;)

i just came up with this new idea and my daughter and i have been having a TON of fun with it! i bought her a cute little address book. we cut pictures out of magazines, then glue them into the address book where they "belong". a "cat" could go in C for cat, K for kitty, B for black, F for fuzzy, etc etc! i help her describe it, and she decides where it goes! :)

Reading with puppets prior to bedtime. My little one loves to have the puppets read to him or for us to read to the puppets.

This looks fabulous! My little one has Down Syndrome and I'm always looking for new ways to help her. We read tons of books together. She also loves to watch Signing Times videos.

We use the tag reader with the Cat in the Hat, Princess and the Frog and other tag books with our 5-year old.

I read to my son every night. He is only 2, but he is already starting to memorize his books and fill in the blanks when we read to him.

Now that its getting cold oldside, we love practicing our reading in a "tent" in the living room, made out of blankets and chairs.

We're going through the early stages of learning how to read right now! We have fun doing lots of storytimes, "hunts" for alphabet letters, and artwork and fun activitiy pages.

My daughter learned to read from using the leapfrog tag.

We've read lots of books, watched PBS kids shows (SuperWhy! is great!), played with the Leap Frog fridge phonics with 3 letters...not one particular method, but it seems to have worked with my daughter. I'm afraid the boys will be harder.

My 3-year-old nephew and I read every day. He loves when i read and change my voice to suit the characters and he acts out some of the actions in his favorite books. He just loves his books.
