Win-It Wednesday: Genie Garage Door Opener Prize Pack

by Tara Kuczykowski on October 12, 2011 · 942 comments

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday, with 24-hour giveaways just for you!

Have you ever wondered if you remembered to close the garage door? Or have you ever worried about the safety of your garage door?  If so, then the Genie SilentMax 1000 garage door opener and its many new safety features will offer you peace of mind.

Not only does the SilentMax 1000 provide intelligent design for the homeowner that wants quiet performance with superior design and conveniences, it also offers some pretty amazing safety features like a comprehensive Safe-T-Beam system that meets or exceeds CSA regulations, an auto reversing system that prevents it from closing if something is in the way, and a superior encryption system that automatically changes the access code every time you use it to prevent unauthorized persons from opening your garage door.

The Genie SilentMax 1000 is so simple to install that my husband was able to put it up without assistance in about an hour. I have to say it definitely lives up to its name -- it's the quietest garage door opener I've ever heard (or not heard in this case). I was in the house and had no idea he was already testing it out!

I love the keypad entry system because it means I don't have to carry bulky keys with me when I go for a walk or to the park, and it's also great for those rare occasions when the kids beat me home from school. They just punch in our PIN number, and can let themselves into the house.

One of my favorite features is the optional Network Adapter. It's easy to get distracted when pulling out of the driveway with a carload of kids, so this handy little feature tells me at a glance whether or not I've remembered to shut the garage door. The Network Adapter remote will beep and flash green when closed properly or give a warning tone and flash read when not closed properly.

Today, one lucky Deal Seeking Mom winner will win a Genie Silent Max 1000 Garage Door Opener prize pack that includes:

  • One SilentMax 1000 Garage Door Opener
  • Closed Confirm 3-button Remote and Network Adapter Combo

To enter, tell me what your biggest safety concern is with garage doors.

I worry about the kids getting under it, someone being able to open it and get into the garage then house when I am not home or asleep and that the door will come down and hit someone

My biggest safety concern is having a child walk under the door while it is shutting. It does not matter how sensitive the garage door mechanism is, there is a lot of weight coming down and kids are so fragile.

Biggest concern is that our opener just broke last week and I have a 3 year old and a newborn. I worry the door will come down on my 3 year old because it is hard to wrangle him into the house. I miss my opener. You don't realize how good you have it until it breaks!

I have had 4 brain surgeries and recently a spinal cord surgery leaving me completely disabled and very very weak...I can't shut our garage door(we have no opener) for fear of it landing on me...so my childcren try to help me which poses the ultimate second fear of it falling on them! Its unbarable to imagine either thing happening!

My biggest concern is that someone can just walk up and lift it open.. my garage door/opener stopped working a few weeks ago and ever since then I've had to get out of the car and manually lift my door open.. I'm always looking over my shoulders making sure no one is walking by.. lol. And getting home later at night is a whole 'nother issue.. I'm paranoid enough as it is nevermind worrying that someone is watching when it's dark out! ;)

My garage door opener broke about 2 months ago, right after my husband needed to start using a power scooter. This means I have to open the HEAVY door manually and it has no safety features. HELP!! This would be such a blessing!

47 Jamie October 13, 2011 at 7:57 am

As of right now, my biggest concern with the garage door that I have is that it's too heavy to lift. We don't have a door opener that works and it nearly breaks my back to open it. Not to mention the fear of it falling once it is lifted.
