Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Borders is Double Dog Daring you with their Summer Reading Challenge. This summer, they want to encourage kids to read -- and enjoy doing it -- with a fun reading challenge/ Have your child under 12 years old sign up at the Borders store nearest you. All they have to do is read any 10 books this summer and they'll receive a FREE book!
Harper Collins has this tip for helping kids enjoy reading:
Bring Your Book to Life!
A good book lets your child’s imagination run free to visit new worlds. After your child reads a book, help him or her to use other creative parts of their brain and build the world even more by acting out their favorite scene from the book. It’s a great way to have family fun on a summer night, or to bring together your child’s friends on a rainy afternoon. Even better, video the performance and you’ll have a great memory to revisit later!
Here are a few tips:
- Have your child imagine what the book would look like as a movie
- Let them design what the scenery would look like
- Encourage your child to choose their favorite character, and explain why
- And have fun!

My biggest challenge to get my child to read is the fact that he is five months old ;D

My son likes to read books about animals. It is harder to get him to read other things.
At sixteen there are so many distractions, with a license, going out with friends happens a lot. He also has a part time job, and the fact that he is an A and B student makes it hard not to tell him to just enjoy the summer.

No challenge for me--my kids love to read!
I am already a forum member
The biggest challenge is great weather. It was a VERY wet spring in Portland, Oregon so the kids want to be outdoors enjoying the sun! But reading before bedtime is a wonderful pleasure...for all five of us.

My daughter loves to read, so no problem!
My kids are young and really enjoy reading. A challenge is having them not pick the same book every night.

I subscribe via email. I have four boys and it is always a challenge to get them to sit still long enough to read. :) That being said, I have seen great changes this school year and am happy that they are working on their Double Dog Dare challenge with Borders! Would be thrilled to encourage more reading with a gift card!
Since my son is young keeping his attention while reading a book is my biggest challenge!

I don't have kids, but I know kids like to play outside instead of being inside reading.

Well, no challenge yet a I don't have any old enough to read. I guess the greatest challenge is making time to read.
It's always hard to find time to read!

both of my kids love books. they are still young so I read to them a lot but they also love to sit and "read" to themselves.

My daughter loves to read so no challenge there. My boys on the other hand I have to get them to sit down long enough to get interested in reading. Challenging them to read a certain number of books and get a free one like borders is doing motivates them pretty good.
My little girl has a ton of books, however my son doesn't have quite as many. It would be great to help him get his collection going since he will start to read this coming school year!
Thankfully my kids love books (they are still young so we are reading to them vs. them reading on their own yet)...but my challenge is that when we go to the library, they head right for the computer or DVDs instead of the books! I plan to make it a priority to pick books first, then they can play or pick 1 movie...
right now she is only 4 and she loves to read i hope it stays that way

No kids, not a challenge! :)

My biggest challenge during the summer is lack of time in the evenings when we usually read for quite a while. We are at sports games and other activities until late during the summer and it really cuts into that quality reading time!
