I love Little People, also. My girls never could get enough of them! Now they are excited to hand them down to their little brother and "teach him how to play"!

8 Khrishna November 12, 2009 at 10:04 am

whoa, stiff competition this time :) My favorite gifts for toddlers are those cardboard-stiff books. If you introduce a child to books (stories) early, it's easier to get them to actually enjoy reading!

My boys loved the geo trax! We had just about everything you could get! Donated all of them as the boys got older- who would have thought we would now have a new baby boy!!! Guess I'll be looking for good deals on all Fisher Price toys again! God is great!

A friend of mine always gives a wet/dry shop vac as a baby gift for first time parents. He gets the weirdest looks and most questioning "thank you"s. And, then, usually not long after the baby is born, he gets phone calls or emails from incredibly grateful parents who now believe it's not only the most useful but also the most thoughtful gift EVER.
He lives in Atlanta and, apparently, many of the shop vacs he gave were put into heavy use during the recent floods.
I'm not brave enough to give shop vacs as baby gifts, but it sounds like a great idea to me.

I love all the IKEA wooden toys. They are easy to put together and come with all the tools. My daughter loves playing with them...everybody's happy!

39 Morgan Whipple November 12, 2009 at 11:47 am

My favorite toddler toy of all time for my children, have been those customized wood stools that have their names on them. The letters of their names come out and they can be used as a puzzle. My girls recognized and could spell their names quicker than I had ever expected!

It doesn't look like much, but the Rainbow People Mover is now my go-to gift for toddlers. (http://www.atoygarden.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=906) You know how the box is usually more entertaining than the toy? Not with this one - and that isn't just because it doesn't come in a box.

One of my favorite toy's to give I am actualy getting for my son this year is a Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera. Those things rock!! They are indestructable, I swear! And the kids don't care if the pics are not that great, they just love to see what they have shot. It's awesome.

48 Jenni November 12, 2009 at 12:50 pm

In the age of digital cameras, my favorite gift to give of all time was the Vtech Kidizoom camera. Kids see their parents always taking lots of pics of their kids & they love to see the pictures right after you take them. This camera was a great gift idea for kids who always want to hold the camera. Now they can take their own!
