I like to stock up on party supplies after the holidays and I always check the end caps at places like Target for clearance items. If a guest offers to bring something I usually have them bring drinks or chips etc.
Jessica P.
I make sure to buy the pop and drinks when they are on sale. If I know I am going to have a party, a couple weeks before I check all the sales and I can usually score 2 liters of pop for .69 each.

I always stock up on party essentials that can’t spoil (i.e. cool paper products, soda, baking mixes) when they are on clearance or I can get them free during triple coupon day. That way, when party time comes around, I only need to purchase a few perishable items and we can have a terrific party with not much cost. :)

Using coupons & making homemade decorations are essential parts of having a frugal & fun party!

Alot of times we do potlucks so everyone pitches in to help with the cost of the party . Sometimes we go to CI-CI’s pizza for the buffett its inexpensive, everyone likes it and we all pay for our own. However if we fix food appetizers usually …i get alot of stuff free with my coupons and stockpile….

Most guest offer to bring a side dish or tray. That keeps costs down a lot!

Making the food myself. It may take longer to cut up all the veggies and make the dip, but it’s a lot cheaper than buying the pre-made platters!

Having it pot luck is my best tip! No need to put all of the pressure to feed everyone on just one person! You get less work and more variety this way

I think having others bring items helps with the expense. I usually serve tea & lemonade instead of pop – it’s so much cheaper!
