Win a $50 Sears Gift Card (Two Winners!)

by Tara Kuczykowski on December 15, 2009 · 1,351 comments

Sears Gift Card
If you're looking for a truly flexible gift that's a little more personal than cash, Sears' new gift cards may be the answer. Now, you can use your Sears gift card at Sears, Kmart, The Great Indoors and Lands' End, making it easier for recipients to find something they want or need!

Sears sent me a $200 gift card to experience the flexibility that it offers firsthand, and I have to tell you, it really was that simple. I was able to shop from the comfort of my own home (in my PJs I might add) and check off a good portion of the items that were on my Christmas gift list.

Would you like to see what I got?

Sears Gift Card Purchases at Land's End
I've mentioned before that we have a tradition of buying our kids new jammies that are a present from Mom and Dad that they receive on Christmas Eve, so I was able to pick up five pairs of fleece pajamas (2 pink and 3 green) from Land's End. These should make for some cute Christmas morning photos!

I was lucky enough to get 25% off and free shipping, so that left me a decent amount to spend at my next stop, Kmart.

Sears Gift Card Purchases at Kmart
I was able to pick up the last two items we needed for our two oldest boys' main gift of the year -- a PlayStation 3 courtesy of saving up my Swag Bucks! I had just enough to score this cool metallic blue PS3 controller and the component cables to hook it up to the TV.

I honestly had no idea that Sears gift cards could be used anywhere else other than Sears prior to working with them on this project. Being able to shop multiple stores is not only convenient, but it makes a Sears gift card a good choice for a family gift because you're sure to find something for everyone between the four stores you can use it at.

But why not try it for yourself? Sears didn't want to leave my wonderful readers empty handed, so two lucky Deal Seeking Mom readers will each win a $50 Sears gift card so they too can experience the convenience and flexibility!

To enter, tell me whether you prefer to shop online or in the physical store!

2 Denise December 16, 2009 at 11:16 pm

I like to save on shipping so unless there is free shipping, I shop in stores!

I prefer shopping in a store, because I like to be able to see all the details of what I'm getting before I buy it.

6 Crys Bauermeister December 16, 2009 at 11:47 pm

I love online shopping because we don't have a full Sears store nearby, nor do we have a KMart. Sears offers great online deals, plus sends out only the highlights of their ads via email.

Especially when it comes to Sears, I prefer shopping online, because I can get 5% cash back by shopping sears.com through the DiscoverCard web site.

I like to online shop for a cheaper deal, but view the product in store to make sure I like it.

I just joined the Deal Seeking Moms forum!

I like to shop in store and online but usually buy in store so I can see it in person and save the shipping charges.

13 Chasity December 17, 2009 at 7:42 am

I love the experience of shopping in store. It really is a treat for me (especially if Hubby stays home with the kids, so i don't have to hurry)!

It depends on the store. Most places I like to go to the store to shop. Though I usually check Amazon first before I go. Thank you

I prefer shopping online if I can get free shipping. I love how easy it is and I also enjoy being able to read the customer reviews of each product. However, I don't like to pay shipping, so if I can't get it free, I shop in a "real" store.

I prefer to shop in the stores, when the crowds are down...like a weeknight so I can really shop. Happy Holidays !

25 Smellyann December 17, 2009 at 12:33 pm

I prefer to shop online! :)

26 Leah December 17, 2009 at 12:48 pm

It completely depends on the product. I'd never shop for clothes online, but definitely do for games/toys/etc. Nothing beats getting something delivered right to your door!

28 Neva December 17, 2009 at 6:18 pm

I shop in-store...unless there's free shipping !!

29 Alex December 17, 2009 at 11:54 pm

I like to shop in physical stores, unless I can't fine the items I want in the stores locally or I can get a high number of points from Mypoints.

30 Carmen December 17, 2009 at 11:56 pm

On the one hand, I like to see what I'm purchasing - and often times I can control impulse buying better in the store. But I like the convenience of not having to drive from here to there...

31 Debbie December 18, 2009 at 12:46 am

I like both...online shopping for non-clothes items and going in person for clothing.

I like physical stores to shop in

35 Cori Westphal December 18, 2009 at 12:13 pm

Oh hands down online shopping. Either that or shopping at midnight. I hate waiting in lines and digging thru racks to find what I want. Online is just much easier!

43 Kirsty H. December 18, 2009 at 3:58 pm

Oh I love to actually shop at the store. I love getting in there and bargain shop and hunt high and low for a great bargain. And if a little push comes to shove. That's okay, I don't mind it as long as nobody gets hurt ;-)

I definitely like to be able to see things and hold and feel if necessary. Very little do I shop online.

49 Danielle Farrelly December 18, 2009 at 10:26 pm

I love your site, I try to check it at least 3-4 times a week and i'm trying to understand what it means to put your button on my sidebar, so if someone could answer that ? for me I would appreciate it because I am pretty new to all of this. I also don't know what the Feed is either. Thanks
