Win a $50 Sears Gift Card (Two Winners!)

by Tara Kuczykowski on December 15, 2009 · 1,351 comments

Sears Gift Card
If you're looking for a truly flexible gift that's a little more personal than cash, Sears' new gift cards may be the answer. Now, you can use your Sears gift card at Sears, Kmart, The Great Indoors and Lands' End, making it easier for recipients to find something they want or need!

Sears sent me a $200 gift card to experience the flexibility that it offers firsthand, and I have to tell you, it really was that simple. I was able to shop from the comfort of my own home (in my PJs I might add) and check off a good portion of the items that were on my Christmas gift list.

Would you like to see what I got?

Sears Gift Card Purchases at Land's End
I've mentioned before that we have a tradition of buying our kids new jammies that are a present from Mom and Dad that they receive on Christmas Eve, so I was able to pick up five pairs of fleece pajamas (2 pink and 3 green) from Land's End. These should make for some cute Christmas morning photos!

I was lucky enough to get 25% off and free shipping, so that left me a decent amount to spend at my next stop, Kmart.

Sears Gift Card Purchases at Kmart
I was able to pick up the last two items we needed for our two oldest boys' main gift of the year -- a PlayStation 3 courtesy of saving up my Swag Bucks! I had just enough to score this cool metallic blue PS3 controller and the component cables to hook it up to the TV.

I honestly had no idea that Sears gift cards could be used anywhere else other than Sears prior to working with them on this project. Being able to shop multiple stores is not only convenient, but it makes a Sears gift card a good choice for a family gift because you're sure to find something for everyone between the four stores you can use it at.

But why not try it for yourself? Sears didn't want to leave my wonderful readers empty handed, so two lucky Deal Seeking Mom readers will each win a $50 Sears gift card so they too can experience the convenience and flexibility!

To enter, tell me whether you prefer to shop online or in the physical store!

I prefer brick and mortar but for certain things online is OK and I am more comfortable with it now compared to years ago.

I'm lazy, don't like big crowds and the biggest excuse you'll all understand - toddler ;) So I LOVE shopping online, but hate to pay for shipping (I'm cheap!) LOVE Land's End and that you can return to a Sears store if it doesn't fit so I'm not out money :D

I prefer to shop at the store because I can get the item at the store and save on S&H. There is a large variety of stores within 15 minutes of my home so if I see something online ,I can usually find it at the store.Unless of couse it is out of stock, then I can get it online where the quantity is higher

10 Julie Slack December 16, 2009 at 6:38 am

I like to shop on line, so easy and convenient. My DH is less tech savvy and likes to shop in the store.

I do both. If I think I could find a better deal (or I can't even find it in store!) I check online. I only buy if I get free or very cheap shipping :-)

16 Kristi December 16, 2009 at 7:37 am

I subscribe already.

17 Melissa D. December 16, 2009 at 8:11 am

I either shop online or in-store; where ever I can get the best deal. I'll check the in-store prices online and sometimes call the store to see if it's in stock before I head out... saves $$ on gas! :)

18 Marie R December 16, 2009 at 8:22 am

I like to do both. It depends who has the better deal and if I need it right away and it also depends if they have a good deal on shipping.

I shop on-line for photo gifts, but go to brick and mortar stores for everything else. jenmizener at gmail dot com (I'm not sure why but the boxes for my name and e-mail address above the comment box are not showing up. I hope my comment still qualifies for the contest.)

I prefer a brick and mortar (particularly for clothes/shoes -- so they can be tried on).

Thanks for the opportunity!

I prefer brick and mortar. I'm too cheap to pay S&H. I'll shop online only if its a better deal, its something I can't find in my area, or I can get free shipping.

34 Andrea Watts December 16, 2009 at 10:44 am

I prefer online shopping. You have more selection and no waiting in lines. But only if there is no shipping fees or very low fees. I do like shopping in the stores after Christmas. I think is't more fun because of the savings you get after Christmas.

I do a little of both. I like the convenience of online shopping, but don't like to use credit cards. Plus, I like to see & touch items for myself, that can save making a return down the line!

I like doing both but it depends on the store. If I can buy something online and have it sent to the store for pick up, I like doing that, saves on shipping charges too.

46 Sharon W December 16, 2009 at 12:18 pm

It depends on what I am buying. I like to do both.

I love using the internet to shop. I can plan and think without having to answer my sons' many questions! However, there are times when I do need to go to the store to make sure something is going to fit them (like winter coats and boots). That's why I like Sears. They help me order the items at the store and have it delivered to my house without paying extra for shipping. I love that about Sears!

Thanks for the giveaway!

I have always preferred shopping at the actual store, but this year I have done some Christmas shopping online and have loved it - next year I plan to do a lot more online Christmas shopping.
