If you’ve been hesitant to start your Christmas shopping for fear of finding an item at a lower price in a month or so, Walmart has you covered with their new Christmas Price Guarantee!
Starting on Nov. 1, if you purchase an eligible product at Walmart anytime between Nov. 1 and Dec. 25, and then find that same product advertised for less at another store, Walmart will give you a gift card for the difference through Dec. 25. Guaranteed.
Here’s how it works:
- Applicable to general merchandise purchases made between Nov. 1 and Dec. 25. Food and grocery purchases are not eligible.
- Valid on identical items that are currently available at competitor’s stores located within the same local market.
- Bring your current printed ad and your original Walmart receipt to the customer service desk to receive the price difference in the form of a Walmart gift card.
- Items placed on layaway will also be eligible for the Christmas Price Guarantee.
Note that the Christmas Price Guarantee does not cover Black Friday advertisements; however, the standard Walmart Ad Match policy will still be in effect that day. Find more details and an FAQ here.

That’s a great deal when it comes to Black Friday or other big sales events. I don’t think I would just buy anything and wait to see if it goes on sale somewhere in hopes of a refund. But, for example, if I got a BF preview I would definitely consider buying all my stuff at Walmart on the Wed. before, sleep in on BF, and then go later in the day and get my GC refund. Beats the crowds, don’t have to worry about stock, don’t have to get up early!!
Question: I understand food, but what is “grocery” defined as?

I’d imagine that would cover things like cleaning supplies and paper goods, etc.

Will the BF items apply? It sounds too good to be true.

Black Friday items won’t be covered by the Christmas Price Guarantee, but the regular Ad Match Policy will still be in effect that day.
