We’ve been considering upgrading our youngest boy’s bed to a queen size for several months now, but I was kind of dreading the expense. I don’t know about you all, but searching for a mattress on Walmart.com never crossed my mind. I mean, I know that Walmart is known for pretty much carrying everything, but mattresses???
So when I was asked to review a new Beautyrest Studio Mattress, I did a little happy dance. I’m sure you know I’m not shy about giving my opinion on products, and we could score my baby boy a new mattress in the process. It totally seemed like a win-win situation.
But imagine my surprise when this showed up on our doorstep…
I expected to have to haul a fully expanded queen size mattress up the steps. There’s really a queen size mattress in there? Turns out there really is!
Inside the box is a queen size Beautyrest Studio Mattress that has been vacuum sealed, folded in half, and rolled up to fit inside the box. It stays in this state until you unroll it and cut the plastic packaging, and then it magically “reinflates” itself — so much fun to watch!
Of course, once you unpack it and cut the seal, there’s no way to repack it, so I’d recommend doing this in the room you intend to put it in.
Drew was so excited to get his big boy bed! He has a tendency to wander into the other kids’ rooms at night and cuddle up with them — I think he’s actually a little sad that he’s the only one that doesn’t have someone to share a room with him. Crazy, huh? But ever since we set up his new bed, he’s slept soundly in it every. single. night. Score!
While I haven’t slept on it overnight, I’ve tested it out during his bedtime stories, and it’s quite comfortable. I can definitely see why he’s sleeping better now. And he’s going to need a good night’s sleep since he’s starting kindergarten in just two days…
A queen size Beautyrest Studio Mattress is priced at $349 currently on Walmart.com, and right now it ships for FREE with Home Free — what a great value! You can also choose to pick it up for free at your local store with the Site to Store shipping method.
