CJ - yeah, I noticed that yesterday as well ... looks like the RRs themselves haven't changed, just the programming on the register.

The Pilot RR's do say "Thank you for your purchase" on the left lower corner, but they also say "PILOT CORP" above the barcode in the middle.

mine didn't roll either. I bought the gel pens, got the RR, went to another Walgreens, and while I got free pens that time, no more RR. Oh well! $1 for 4 gel pens is pretty good!

i used my highlight coupons just fine and they all worked . i also had a coupon for the other pens and i could only find a 2 pack for 5.49 so i ended up paying 3.49 did i choose the wrong pens

I went today to pick up two of the highlighters, the coupon didn't work so I added a pack of gum and it went through just fine. The manager said that they only adjust the coupon down if it is their own coupon (in the flyers). He let me know that if the purchase amount - pre tax - is greater than the coupon I shouldn't have a problem in the future.

My Walgreens would not accept the highlighter coupon when I tried to purchase two packs of highlighters (value did not reach $1). I asked the manager to adjust the value of the coupon down and he said that that would be 'coupon fraud' and would not do it.

I emailed Walgreens corporate through the contact us on the website last night after the assistant store manager at one of our stores said she'd never heard of a policy to adjust coupons down. I told her I've contacted corporate before on this so she would be getting a call. Sure enough the store general manager called me back this morning right away to apologize. He verified that YES it is current Walgreens corporate policy to accept the coupon and adjust it down to the item cost when the item is less than the coupon. He also said he was having each of his employees re-read the corporate coupon policy and initial it this week. However he wouldn't agree to give me a copy of the policy to carry around. He said corporate won't allow that because policies can change. Tara is there any chance you can get Walgreens customer service to do a guest post on your site to tell us what current policy is and/or to clarify where the policy is posted in the stores so we can ask employees to go look at it if there's a problem? This happens so often you'd think they would want to address it too.

My mom howns her own business and I purchased 13 packs of the highlighters today using 6 coupons and had no problem. Paid .86 for them all! I didn't even try to get just 12 because all of my local stores have told me that they cannot adjust coupon amounts as it is a "loss prevention issue". I think we did well, though!

The instant value coupons (IVC) that they use in their ads that are Walgreens coupons.

From what I understood Walgreens does not have a printed coupon policy and therefore does not have a policy about adjusting coupons down. The only time I've had luck with coupons that are over the value of the item is for ones that have a IVC in the flyer as well because the actual price is higher and the manufacturer coupons work.
Basically Walgreens has said it is up to the inidividual store from everything I"ve seen!

Yeah I went today for the highlighters. I tried to explain to the cashier that all she had to do was adjust the price of the coupon, and she called the manager instead. He told me I needed to buy 3 packs also. I fibbed and told him people there have done it in the past... but it was a no-go. Oh well. 47 cents for 3 packs is not bad at all. I gave each of my kids a pack for school.

I'm in Texas and also had to buy three packs of the highlighters to be allowed to use the coupon. First they said the coupon didn't work b/c it couldn't be combined with any other offer and b/c the highlighters were already on sale the coupon wouldn't work. I asked for manager, who said that I just needed to buy another item b/c the total was only 98 cents and coupon was $1.00 off. I picked up a 9 cent folder but it still said "item not found", so another manager came up and said I had to buy another BIC item so I ended up buying the third marker set then the coupon worked. I apologized to those in line behind me and let a few cut in line ahead of me each time I had to wait on a manager.

Debbie - how strange! I just tried it myself using a RR from Sunday and of course it didn't work. The clerk saw my items and looked at the RR that I was going to use, then punched something from a slip of paper into the cash register first before she completed the sale, so I wonder if there's some special code that that Wags emailed to the stores that prevents the RRs from printing.
