Bengay Pain Relief + Massage is on megasaver at Walgreens until 6/26. You can get it for FREE with the $5 printable coupon on their site. Here’s how:
Bengay Pain Relief + Massage, $4.99 (regular $8.99)
$5/1 Bengay Pain Relief + Massage Product printable (register to print)
FREE after coupon!
Remember, this coupon will beep at the register. The cashier is supposed to adjust the coupon down, but if they give you a hard time, be prepared with a cheap filler. Check out the rest of this week’s Walgreens deals for a list of fillers you could use!

I tried buying the bengay today at Walgreens and had another product to cover the $.01 overage and the cashier refused to take my coupon. Told me that he couldn’t adjust the coupon or the product. He would not budge about it. I took my coupons back. I will just go to Walmart and get it there.
Nicole
Same deal for me. Walgreens will absolutely NOT adjust anything even if it’s just a penny. If the coupon value is OVER the amount of the price of the product (even by a penny), they will NOT accept the coupon. PERIOD!
I tried this deal at 4 different Walgreens in the Tacoma, Puyallup WA area.
Ditto with the $2/2 Reach Toothbrush offer.
abbie
same here. and i’ve tried to tell them that THEY are the ones losing money when they won’t take a coupon over the amount of the item since in the long run they would end up getting more money from the manufacturers than from out of my pocket. especially since i always refuse to buy without the coupon. i have no idea why that is their policy unless they’re out to save the manufacturers money!

I also had trouble with this coupon.The cashier made me feel like a criminal for getting the item that was on sale for free (I even had 2 filler items.). After my purchase was done, she then asked for my ID and then wrote down my information on the back of the coupon. Is that proper procedure? She said that it was nothing, that they were having problems with coupons.
Karen G
Janelle…you don’t ever need to give anyone your ID. I personally would call corp and let them know what happened. The coupon is legit…you did nothing wrong and there is NO reason to need your ID info.
Rebecca
I’m laughing because everyone is saying exactly what I was gonna say. Gosh, do you think Walgreens can get any dumber with it’s coupon training?!??! I tried to get them to reduce a RR down one cent a couple of weeks ago and the cashier said she couldn’t do it. I said I understand what you are saying but I would like to ask a manager to try to do it. Do you know what the manager told me? She said she absolutely could not and would not do any such thing because it was a Federal offense! I seriously had to look down at my wallet to stop from myself from bursting out with laughter! That was the dumbest thing I had ever heard! Not only was she 100% serious but you would swear the cashier was looking around for the coupon Men in Black to come bursting through the doors just to have mentioned adjusting the q down a penny! Whenever I shop at Wags, I think of a tiny little box and try to imagine myself inside it because that’s the limit to most of their silly rules. I love the Wags I go to that only allow you one RR item … period! I just avoid those crazy stores like the plague.
Thanks for the great q though! I’m hoping either to get miraculously lucky at a Wags or use it at CVS or RA in the future as a MM. :D

Everyone is correct. Same here in San Diego. No Wags will accept a coupon over the amount, even a penny. I won’t be shopping there anymore unless there is an item that is 100% free after RR with no coupon necessary. They are so silly. They are loosing business. I also suggest that the blogs refrain from posting Wags deals such as these since they never work for anyone.

I’m noticing more and moret that Walgreen’s is basiclly pulling a “bait and Switch”. They have no set coupon policy but they have sales and know darn well people will use coupons to get it cheap or free. They are just vague enough to get you in the door and vague enough to refuse to honor the coupon. That’s the lure to get you in the door and maybe you’ll buy something anyway
I’ve had 2 good experiences with the coupons there and 4 bad ones. I won’t go back there for anything at all after today
Nikki
S, I think you’re right. Last week I went to every WAGS in my area for the Ecotrin deal & they were all out – all week. You would think they’d know there would be a high demand since it was a MM & have the inventory to support it. I was even told (twice) the deal would be going on all week, but I checked at two stores yesterday & it’s no longer on sale.
Nicole
I emailed corporate and asked a very detailed question regarding the Reach Toothbrushes and BENGAY coupons and this is the answer I received back from “corporate”.
June 09, 2010
Dear Nicole,
Thank you for taking your time to contact our Corporate Offices. We appreciate hearing from our customers and value all comments received.
Unfortunately, we do not have a coupon policy, rather “guidelines” we follow.
*1 Walgreen and 1 manufacturer coupon can be used for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits; *Walgreens does not provide cash back if a coupon is presented for more than one purchase value of the item
(i.e. the customer is using the coupon to purchase a clearance item);
*If the retail of the item is less than the face value of the coupon;
*The coupon value shall be the retail value if the state requires taxes to be paid on that item;
*The coupon value shall be the retail value plus taxes if the state does not require taxes to be paid on the item; *All valid coupons must be presented to the cashier at the time of sale only;
*Managers have the right to limit the quantities of all advertised items (also disclosed on the back of the ad circular); *Walgreens does not price match with other retailers;
* Walgreens does not accept competitor coupons;
*Walgreens does not accept expired coupons;
*If an item is purchased with a manufacturer coupon is returned, the customer will get the retail price of the item. If the customer purchased an item with a Walgreens coupon, the customer receives the price paid.
Again, thank you for contacting our corporate office. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your comments.
Sincerely,
Rori Robinson

Notice NOWHERE in the email does it say they won’t accept coupons if the value of the coupon exceeds the price of the item. They only say no cash back… So what does that mean? I have no idea they haven’t responded with a direct answer to my direct question.
“Ok so that email doesn’t answer my question? Does Walgreens reject coupons if the value of the coupon exceeds the price of the item even by one penny? ”
I HATE Walgreens now. I also got told I was breaking the law and commiting fraud by trying to use the coupon. Gee I’m a criminal because I am trying to use a coupon… I think not!!!
Screw Walgreens, I’m going to use Target, Rite-Aid, Walmart ANYONE except for them.
Carol
Geezzzz….I hope I don’t have the same problems. I really hope I don’t have any problems at the Walgreens around here because I could really use this stuff. I’ve got fibromyalgia and since it’s getting close to the summer solstic, I’m in a lot of pain.
I’m going to take a copy of Nicole’s post–so I can prove that there is no “guideline” regarding readjusting coupons to a lower amount.
BTW…I’d like to give Nicole a “shout out” for complaining to corporate regarding their “guidelines”. Every email helps, if everyone who has a problem at their store would do the same, I think Walgreens would have to begin to make some “standardized policies” sooner or later. I will certainly be emailing Walgreens if I have a problem.
On another blog I follow, the host sent a letter to Walmart containing all the complaints from her followers…ei, clerks make us feel like criminals when using coupons; stores won’t take online coupons; and the, overall poor trainning. Then she posted an excutive’s email address and told followers to complain to him. Well, the one store I had problems with taking online coupons IS now taking online coupons. Also, there has been pictures of signs in front of Walmart’s (mainly in the midwest) stating they take any coupon and match any ad.
This is the power of the consumer. In this economy, the consumer has the ability to make or break a store, and change policies. Sure you can go to another store out of anger, but if you really want a store to change…this is the only way to acheive it.
Stacy
Wow, I am so sorry all of you are having these issues with Walgreens. I know where I am locally, they will refuse any coupon that beeps, but I also know that if you use a filler item, the coupon won’t beep. However, if you read the guidelines that Nicole received, I think they are pretty clear: According to how I interpret this, it basically says:
1. Walgreens does not provide cash back if a coupon is presented for more than one purchase value of the item –
(i.e. the customer is using the coupon to purchase a clearance item);
If you purchase an item that is less than the value of the coupon, you will get the item free but no cash back. So in this case, you should get the item, but not get back the penny.
2. If the retail of the item is less than the face value of the coupon;
*The coupon value shall be the retail value if the state requires taxes to be paid on that item;
*The coupon value shall be the retail value plus taxes if the state does not require taxes to be paid on the item; *All valid coupons must be presented to the cashier at the time of sale only;
Basically, this tells me that if my state requires taxes and I purchase an item that is less than the coupon presented, they will adjust the coupon to the price of the item AND collect the sales tax. If my state does not require tax, then they will adjust the price of the item and not collect any tax.
I would print this out and take it with you to the store. I would also, as someone else suggested, encourage you to contact corporate and let them know that managers in your store are not following the guidelines.
I also see nothing stated in these guidelines about how many register rewards people can use at one time. From what I can see, the only thing the managers can really do, is limit quantities, so one person doesn’t clear the shelf, or perhaps refuse a coupon they feel is not legitimate. I personally have never had an issue with this but I can certainly understand your frustration because I would be very frustrated too,.
I had an issue a few weeks ago with internet coupons. My store suddenly decided they were not taking them at all. I did contact corporate who contacted the store. When the store called me back, I was still not satisfied with my answer, and I called corporate again. I got another call back from the store stating they were mis-informed, and that they ARE taking internet coupons, just not ones for free product. So it does pay to call corporate. You just need to be very nice, explain your position, and then be persistent if you know you are right. Corporate will give you a reference number – keep it handy and continue your dialog (nicely) if you still don’t feel you are satisfied. Corporate does want their customers to be satisfied, and they do try to work with you to get your issues resolved.
Carrie
I also had this issue today. I wish I would have read here sooner. They would not let me use this coupon either. I also did not get my $10 for my $25 Gillette purchase and the cashier said it was because I used b1g1 coupons so I didn’t technically spend $25. But it was because she did the coupons as she did the items. I just started doing these at Wags and CVS so I didn’t know it had to be done at the end. The manager tried to tell me the same thing but I explained that I did spend $25 before the coupons so he did give me vouchers for $10 (they better work). I don’t think I’ll be doing much more shopping at Walgreens in the future. CVS is much nicer.
Ann
Got the Bengay last night at Walgreens with no problem! The cashier didnt even blink an eye and immediately adjusted the coupon down! I always shop at this one and they are wonderful!! Sorry everyone is having issues.
Patricia
I usually have problems with coupons at Walgreens except this time – don’t know why. I bought 3 bengay and used 2-$5 and 1-$3. So I paid $2 for 3 of them – no beeps. My husband loves this stuff so I was willing to pay the $2 :)
Lindsay
Coupons that are printing now are for $3.
Stacy
Thanks for letting us know, Lindsay. Most printable coupons do have print limits so this coupon must have reached its limit and reset to $3. $1.99 is still a pretty good deal though.
Nikki
Is this an unadvertised sale on the Bengay? I went to the store yesterday & it was priced at $9.
Joanne
Apparently the $5 coupon is not available, but I don’t appreciate them NOT telling me before I printed the coupon for $3.00. To me that is scamming.
Chancey
I went to Wags this morning & on the shelf it said it was 8.99 :( booooooo
Juliana
My coupon only printed for $3 instead of the $5–so I guess Walgreen’s will take it, but then it’s not free!
Lindsay
I live in Davenport Iowa and I’ve only had an issue once with the store not taking my coupons and I’ve been doing this for a long time, I’ve also been lucky that CVS and Target have also taken my coupons. I’m sorry that so many of you have had issues. Does anyone else have multiple Wags in their area and their prices are different? If so does anyone know why that is? I have 5 Wags in Davenport alone and most of them have different prices…
Thanks for all the great deals!
Brittany
I was just coming on here to see if anyone else has been having trouble with the coupon because I did! Two different Walgreens in Cincinnati refused, even though I had a filler item. Booo!!!
karla
Tried the Bengay deal last night, was told I was attempting to commit coupon fraud.
Sarah
I just printed the coupon and it’s only $3/1.

I don’t shop at walgreens. It really sucks because that’s the closest to me. I stopped shopping there because I find it ridiculous that I can not use more than one rr to buy one item. They try to have me buy a $1 cookie and I told her the reason for getting rr is to get items at a lower price and to be able to use them on items i really need like diapers not on cookies. anyhow, i don’t shop there unless it’s really an emergency, like my daughter run out of medicine and they need it right away.i love rite aid cause of their scr but if they replace it with the + up program not sure if i would shop as much. i love to get scr for items i buy rather than rewards.
