I am finding it impossible to convince my wife that RR’s or ECB’s make sense since you have to spend your money to get a promissory note that only can be redeemed in the same store in usually 2 weeks time. I really would like to present her with a good counter point if anyone has one. Thank you

You could download this CVS spreadsheet. https://bargainbriana.com/cvs-transaction-planner/ Then try it for 2-3 months. Using this spreadsheet you can watch your savings grow.
Also, only take advantage of those things you use. Otherwise you end up with lots of products and no use for them. I have no little ones in diapers so I do not even look at diaper deals, unless I have a baby shower to attend coming up. This week I did do the Halls deal, not because we need them right now, these are items we do use and now have them on hand when needed.

Here’s how I explained it to my husband. The first time I tried my couponing deals I made $1 in +up rewards at Rite Aid. So yes, I spent a few bucks (no more than $5 I think) to make $1 in rewards. The next time I went I had an even better plan, as I was better prepared, used the $1 from the previous week and earned $5 in rewards and this time spent less over all by using more coupons. Now, just three weeks later, I’ve continually made $7-$10 profit in rewards by using coupons plus my previous weeks +up rewards. At first it’s not a “deal” but after a few weeks of practice and persistance…it pays off!!! It’s all about using other people’s suggestions and making them your own to buy what you and your family needs for less! Hope it helps. After explaining to my husband twice before how this is actually benefiting us this is the way he understood it best.

My husband felt the same way…until I ran the numbers for him. I explain to him that yes…money comes out, but you get a free product that you need or others might need…and when you use a coupon the deal becomes sweeter since there is less money coming out your pocket…and you can use the rr’s or ebc’s for something else and make even more money or other deals(some supermarkets in some areas are accepting rr’s and ecb -check your are that might help) I hope this helps!

I frequently buy milk, soft drinks, water, bath tissue, etc. at walgreens. It only makes since to purchase something like the colgate toothpaste that is a $1.00 money maker and then buy what I need with the rewards. I have then spent a $1.00 less on the item that I needed or wanted and received free toothpaste as well.
