Yes, Laurie and Frances -- I had this same experience today. I had to buy an extra candy bar -- yum! -- to be able to check out.

I had a great visit to Walgreens (and CVS too)! Multiple freebies, ECBs and even used my flex spending card and other MIRs. Love it when you can spend money on items you actually NEED, get ECBs back and will get other money back in the mail later with the MIR!

Laurie: I so agree with you, I am seeing the light now that I am using CVS more and more. Walgreens you have to really "work the system" to make sure you have all the coupons and RRs straight. CVS is "simple", pay with ECBs get back ECBs. Here is some information from my site. Ever wonder why the RRs and coupons don’t work out? Last week I also tried using the RRs from the Huggies deal and it would not take my 3-$3 coupons and the 2 $10 RRs for 3 packages of diapers (I was out of the $5 coupon). Why couldn’t the register charge me $1 for the purchase + the tax on the $30? Well after reading the “small print” wording from the RRs (not really small print, they do a great job with keeping the consumer notified) I found my answer. Excludes prescriptions an items prohibited by law. Also excludes tobacco, alcoholic beverages, sales tax, lottery tickets, money orders/transfers, transportation passes, postage stamps, dairy, prescription savings club membership, health care services, and gift/phone/prepaid cards. Coupon value cannot exceed purchase amount, not valid on P&G products. Total number of manufacturer coupons/register rewards cannot exceed the number of items in the transaction. Register Rewards must be forfeited if qualifying merchandise is returned. Customer pays any sales tax. Coupon may not be bought, reproduced, transferred or sold. No cash value. No cash back. There we have it “Total number of manufacturers coupons/register rewards cannot exceed the number of items in the transaction”. I'm sure you will be re-vamping the Walgreens "how-to links" and thought it might be helpful for newbies (like myself) to know (I just found out the hard way) that Register Rewards are basically considered a coupon and (as it is printed right on the RR) you may not use more coupons/RR than you have items. It sounds logical enough, I guess, but I didn't think of the RR as a "coupon" but rather a "store credit" or Walgreen's version of Monopoly money. I mean, I bought 3 items, used 2 MFR Q's and tried to pay with a $2 and $3 RR (still leaving me a balance to pay) but apparently that was "illegal"! :) This is the second time I've had problems checking out and just NOW figured out why... so I thought I would share since I hadn't found this info anywhere else on the blog (or anywhere else in my reading). I just have to say, I NEVER have issues like this at CVS with their EBs (they're just like cash)! And the only use I can see for these RRs is on items for which you do not have a coupon &/ if you can submit for an ESR (which will be going away next month!).

Not sure where to post this but I went to Walgreens today and found some great clearance items. They had the Crayola giant coloring books for $1.69, a pack of Crayola pip-squeaks for $1.39, and Crayola color wonder sets for $2.69. They also had Dixie paper plates 100 pack for $1.39. Anyways these deals were at all four of the Walgreens I went to (Houston, Texas). Might be worth it to take a peak while you're out getting your huggie & glade deals!

Connie, it sounds like they're misinformed. EasySaver coupons are considered store coupons, not manufacturer coupons. You should be able to use them in conjunction with a manufacturer coupon.

I was told at my Walgreens that the easy saver had manufacture coupons ( instant value coupons) in there and they could not be used with other manufacture coupons.

Samantha - based on your situation, if you have Walgreens nearby, I would say go for the deals there. When you live out in the boondocks like we do, the online purchases and requesting rebate by check are the way to go. Samantha, both have their advantages and disadvantages. You can't use coupons online either. Your best bet might be to find out what days the store closest to you gets their truck in so you can hit it late in the day or first thing the next morning after they stock the shelves.

I usually go to Walgreen's ( with a 7 month old!) on a weekly basis purchasing the rebate items. Although there are several in my area, sometimes items are out of stock and I have to go to 2-3 stores which takes up a lot of my time. When I read the post on EADFL, I was excited, but then I saw that you have to purchase $25 or more to receive free shipping. Plus, I get 10% more back from my rebates by getting them to credit my gift card, but gift cards cannot be used for online purchases. Any suggestions to make this work for me, or do you think it's best to just do what I've been doing? Love the site!

That wouldn't make sense to me, will the manufacturer ask them to not run sales next. I have always been under the impression that a Walgreens coupon is just a different way to run an in store sale. I have a feeling the manager didn't know what he was talking about or just doesn't like people using coupons. Maybe I'm wrong though, just my thoughts.

I went to my local Walgreens last night and when checking out I was informed that I could only use one coupon per item. I could not use a walgreens coupon from the easy saver book plus manufacturer's coupons from the newspaper, etc. When I asked why the store manager informed me that manufacturers had asked them to stop allowing it.
