Target is running an unadvertised special on select Kellogg's products this week that makes for cheap Pop-Tarts or Special K cereal.

For every five products you purchase you'll receive a $5 Target gift card, so here's how the deals work.

Note: These deals depend on your store accepting multiple Target coupons in the same transaction.

Buy (10) Kellogg's Pop-Tarts (12-pks.), $2.40
Use (5) $1/2 Kellogg's Pop-Tarts, exp. 4-19-09 (V 2/22/09)
//or exp. 3-1-09 (V 1/18/09)
Use (5) $1/2 Kellogg's Target printables
$0.40 ea. after coupons and GCs earned!

Buy (5) Special K Cereal, $2.24
Use (5) $0.70/1 Kelloggs Cereal, exp. 4-05-09 (V 2/22/09)
$0.54 ea. after coupons and GCs earned!

Be sure to check out the other Target Weekly Deals, and it's possible that you can still get fresh broccoli for just $0.50 at Super Target!

Thanks, Money Saving Mom!

I love me some pop-tarts, and the sheconomist really enjoys special K. I’m stocking up on both. Thanks for a fantastic tip!

Where is the Special K coupon from Target?

The Kellogs Poptards coupons at $1 of 2 pieces so you can't use 5 of each. You can buy qty 6 and use 3 coupons of each.
I tried to do the deal yesterday at a Target in Dundee,IL but the cashier and Manager got hung up on more than one Manufacture coupon. They think because the coupon states one per purchase that it means one per transaction. I already emailed Corporate about it.

Sorry about that – I got a little link happy. You don't need a Target coupon to get the deal on the Special K. You can get it with just the five manufacturer coupons.

Ofelia, You can use five of each because the deal above is for when you purchase a total of 10 boxes of Pop-Tarts. Hope you get some results from corporate!

I am new to your site and I am not sure what all of your abbreviations mean... such as V 2/22/09. Can you help me translate?

Sure thing, Deborah. You can find a comprehensive list of the couponing terms used in my quick reference guide. It can easily be found in the future by clicking on the Coupons tab at the top of each page.

How much are the poptarts before coupons? I have $1 off manuf and then the Target $1/2 so I want to figure out what it would come to. I can't figure out how much the original cost is from your post.

nevermind, that is what the $2.40 is right?
If I have $1 peelies it would be this:
buy 10 = $24 - $10 (peelies) - $5 (target) = $9 and get 2 $5 gift cards

Also there are BOGO peelies for Kelloggs cereal out there so you could get 10 and use 5 BOGO peelies:

$22.40 - $11.20 (peelies) = $11.20 and get 2 $5 gift cards

But why would you do this when you can get them for free during a BOGO sale (like I did at Publix last week)

I couldn't find the poptart target coupon?

I went to Target and I just thought I'd point out it was only for the 12pk on pop tarts and the Special K didn't offer a gift card...maybe I had the wrong size.

At my Target here in Maryland, the Pop-Tarts were 2.94 and the special K bars ( which you could use, any Kelloggs product) were 2.79. I bought 4 pop-tarts (using 2 $1/2 coupons) and 1 special K bars and got the $5.00 gift card, and my total out of pocket was 14.55. I'm sure I could have found other coupons to add on, but I completely forgot. I didn't realize you could "stack" coupons.

Does anyone know how long this is going to last? Will it end on Saturday?

Are you able to get the coupons opened in your browser window? After you do that, you just need to go to File>Print on your browser or click on the print button.

I believe this will probably end on Saturday, Tricia, but I'm not positive at this point.

I have a stupid question. Where do I find (smartsource, etc.) these coupons? We don't get the paper and the coupons that come in our little country circulars on Wednesdays aren't worth anything.

Jayma, if you click on the coupons tab at the top of the page, I have a list of resources where you can purchase coupons. It might not be worth it all the time, but when you want to stock up on a great deal, it's definitely worth it.

So, you get the Target gift card...do they let you use it on this transaction or is it one of those "on your next purchase" kind of things?

I have 18 (yes, that's eighteen) of those $1/2 coupons from my circulars and will print the Target ones to go with them. I'll probably give some to friends. Anyway, I'm just curious so I'll know and can explain to others.

Thanks!

Amy, it's a gift card to be use on your next purchase. You can earn two per transaction. What I do is if I'm buying other items, I have them ring a transaction with just the items that earn GCs, and then have them ring a second transaction with everything else and apply my GCs to that one.

Oh and I forgot this question...when you make reference to a coupon from a specific date in the past. Is it too late for me to find that coupon for instance for a Hormel Chili coupon from January 18th. ?

No, I still see some listed on eBay. You generally can still find older coupons on these clipping sites.

Just wanted to mention, I was probably just confused on this anyway. But Kellogs Cereals were not part of the deal, only certain Kellogs cereal bars and poptarts, at least at the Kelso, WA store.

Well, I went to Target last night and got my 10 boxes of pop tarts (8-pk for $1.99 each) and used my 10 $1/2 coupons (5 mfg and 5 Target). My total was $10.65, but I didn't get any kind of gift card or anything. Did I do something wrong???

30 Deal Seeking Mom February 28, 2009 at 10:42 am

Amy, it's just the 12-packs that were eligible for the gift card. There should have been signs up in the store indicating the offer – at least there were at my store yesterday.

I don't see the Pop Tart coupons on the Target coupon generator. Did it get discontinued?

Linda, this is an older post and the coupon has since expired.
