Quick Question on Target Coupons...Any idea how many you can use at one time? I went in and used 10 of the cereal coupons with no problem but didn't know if I was doing something "wrong" or not. Any advice??

2 Tara Kuczykowski August 18, 2009 at 12:09 am

The coupons state one per transaction, but numerous people have been told by customer service that it's up to each stores discretion as to how many you can use at one time. I've used several in a single transaction locally without any problems.

3 Katie August 18, 2009 at 12:15 am

Thanks so much. I appreciate it. I am new to this and don't want to be doing anything I am not supposed to :)

4 Noreen August 18, 2009 at 12:49 am

I wish my target would take super target coupons

5 Jenny August 18, 2009 at 7:15 am

These print so small for me. I have had trouble with them not scanning before. Where can we print them off in store? Or do these work okay?

6 Joyce August 18, 2009 at 7:25 am

I have also used several same coupons at one time and no problem. Is there a way to print more than one on a single page? I am new to this. Thanks for all your hard work!

i asked the cashier if i could use 3 at once and she said yes, but then she got a disgusted look and said "NEXT TIME these are for the regular sized boxes" and i said- it says for GM cereal it doesnt say what flavor or size, and she said, well its meant for the big boxes. I was like whatever. i think she was mad i got sharpie highlighters, inkpens and cereal all for free :)

8 Amber August 18, 2009 at 8:22 am

I've used several Target coupons at the same time w/o problems.

Thanks for the heads up! If your Super Target carries the Artisan bread, they have small loaves for $.99, making them free as well.

9 Rachel August 18, 2009 at 8:48 am

Can you use these only at Super Target? Do the the regular Targets take them also? I love free cereal! Thanks!

10 Rachel B August 18, 2009 at 9:31 am

I bought 6 yesterday, but each coupon did beep. The cashier had to manually push them through, and she wasn't that pleased. But I got free cereal, so I'm happy!

11 Lisa August 18, 2009 at 10:22 am

Does it beep? My Target won't push thru if it beeps. Please let me know!

12 Jean August 18, 2009 at 10:37 am

It does beep and my cashier gave me serious attitude and argued with me about using them, but in the end she did it...

13 Michelle McClure August 18, 2009 at 11:04 am

My Target says "you can only use the coupon for what is pictured on the coupon". That is way I do not shop at Target anymore it is to much of a hassle.

14 niki August 18, 2009 at 11:06 am

I hate it when they beep. Have to decide if it's worth the hassle or not.

15 Michelle August 18, 2009 at 1:42 pm

And I've always been told that it's what the coupon SAYS not what the picture shows. I do wish all stores honored the same policies!

16 Dawn August 18, 2009 at 2:32 pm

Thanks for letting us know about this one! I picked up half a dozen of them between visits to 2 Targets! (and I'll be getting more each time I go til it expires!)

17 Meaghan August 18, 2009 at 3:41 pm

I just came from my Target and it did beep. The cashier called for the front end manager and caused a scene. The manager yelled at me and said "I can't let you walk out of here and get it for free!" It was pretty embarrassing. I had other things I was using coupons for (printed from websites and the sunday news insert) and she wouldn't let me use those either to bring things to "free or almost free". I think she is angry because all these coupons drive her numbers down and that's a big deal in retail. I ended up leaving with out one thing because I was so upset that she would cause a scene like that. Very unprofessional. I don't think I will be going back to that Target. :(

18 Tara Kuczykowski August 18, 2009 at 3:49 pm

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, Meaghan. It's too bad these stores don't recognize that the same shoppers that have great experiences using coupons will also remain loyal customers for all of their purchasing needs available at that store.

19 Meaghan August 18, 2009 at 4:15 pm

You are definately right Tara! In the end, they do get their money from coupons after they submit them. Also, if they are going to put coupons online, they should expect their customers, especially loyal customers, to use them. It's unfortunate that some managers are only concerned with numbers and bonuses.

One of the most important thing I consider when buying my kids shoes is comfort. My boys can give shoes a new name with the use of them and they love Crocs. Should I be selected to win, I believe my kids would love the Teton Model.

23 Tenika Milsap August 18, 2009 at 5:30 pm

One thing that I have done effectively to save on my back-to-school shopping was to save the exact amount of money up that I intended to use for all of my 3 kids and know that I would not exceed my budget was to wait to shop in Mississippi's 1st NO-TAX Holiday shopping to get the kids started with clothes for school. I must say, that I had outdone myself.

I went to Target yesterday to get the GM cereals (had 8 coupons), the mini artisian bread loaf, and the Renzuit air freshener. Cashier scanned the Renzuit and bread first, then cereal coupons, and the total was going to be under so she had to call mgr. I told her she has to adjust down the coupons and she didn't listen. So mgr came over and got all frustrated and then started telling me that the Renzuit target coupon (1 target and 1 mfgr) was only for what was on the picture. I told her the only thing it says that it excludes 1 ct. fresheners and doesn't say anything about excluding sprays, etc. and if the picture rule is the case, then the cereal coupons wouldn't work either since they only had a picture of the Cheerios box on it!! So she finally did it everything but with a huff and puff the whole time! This issue usually doesn't happen at Super Target (I usually have tons of problems with internet and even Target coupons at my regular Target), but yesterday it did! I think it depends on the casheirs, some know what to do and some don't! I wish all would just get educated!

25 Rachel Adrian August 18, 2009 at 6:24 pm

I used the Kashi coupons and got 12 free total. I used the coupons a few at a time over a few weeks at different Targets.

26 Jamie August 18, 2009 at 7:06 pm

I am a cashier at target and speaking from my store at least 95 % of coupons beep , our system does not like coupons but all we do is look and make sure you bought the right item and then hit accept. For those of you who have had problems or rude experiences i definitely would call or email headquarters and let them know, I have seen a few of my coworkers being rude just because they are tired or hot or didnt want to be there.

27 Denise August 18, 2009 at 10:29 pm

Mine didn't work today-- it was a dollar exactly for the cereal cup and a dollar off on the coupon and the cashier wouldn't put it through because she said it had to be worth more than the coupon. I'm just going to take it to a different store that I usually go to. You always have to be flexible with coupons because you never know about what kind of mood your checker will be in or how much they think they know about the coupons.

28 Kaylia August 18, 2009 at 11:21 pm

I went to target today, I purchased 5 GM Cereal Cups, 1-2 pack Renzuit air freashner and 3 dove deoderants. I handed the cashier 5-$1 off GM cereal coupons, 3-$2 off Dove deoderant MFG coupons, 3-$1 off Dove TARGET coupons, 1-$1 Target Renxuit coupon, and 1 .55 Renzuit MFG coupon. Cashier #1 scanned the GM's coupons and they wouldn't go through, he then asked the cashier on the next register, cashier #2 what he should do, Cashier #2 then tried to tell me that he had to be on a box of cereal (he wasn't rude when he said this) I then told him the size wasn't indicated. For some reason Cashier #1(my cashier) swiched with cashier #2 (cashier on another register). So now cashier #2 was ringing my stuff up and he finally called a manger. While we were waiting he tried to scan the Target Dove coupons and those wouldn't scan neither. I told him obviously there was something wrong because i had the correct deoderant. The manager came and tried to also tell me that it had to be on a box of cereal, she just stared at it while i told her it didn't say a size. She told cashier to just give it to her. So he pushed threw the 5 target gm coupons and 3 target doce coupons. My total ended up being 2.71 from 18.36. I was happy, but i dont want to have to go through that hassle every week.

29 Beth August 19, 2009 at 10:02 am

My Target wouldn't let me do it either. She said it needed to be the pictured item, and I told her it said "any", so then her excuse was that the cereal cost the same as the coupon value. Whatever. She wouldn't let me use the Nexcare coupon either because the trial size was $.97 and the coupon was for $1.00 off. It all depends on what cashier you get.

30 Jennifer Laxson August 19, 2009 at 10:10 am

My friend works at Target so I know a few people that work there and always go to them to check me out...But even when it's someone I know they still have to sometimes call a manager over to override and that's embarressing and a hassle... : (
They do need to do something about all the darn beeping...You know...They have coupons on their website for crying out loud!!!

31 Brandy August 19, 2009 at 10:36 am

Our Target stated "You cannot use a coupon on a product that will completely cancel out the price." In other words they just made something up so that we could not get it for free.

32 Mike August 19, 2009 at 6:59 pm

It seems like a lot of people are having problems with GM/Cereal coupons. I don't think I will try this as tempting as it looks.

I think the "spirit" of the coupon was $1 off the boxed cereals. It really doesn't make sense for Target to give $1 off on an item that virtually cost $1.

A lot of times you can get an item for free ONLY when there is a Target coupon and a Manufactures Coupon. But rarely can you get an item for free with only a Store coupon.

33 norma August 19, 2009 at 9:08 pm

Ok - I had a very embarrasing ordeal as well. See I usually got to a male cashier because they don't care to give you trouble, in fact they are always amazed at my bargains and are very happy for me. But today I had a female cashier and of course she had a problem with me getting free cereal and using 2 coupons for each dove deodorant. she tried to say i could only use one coupon per item and i told her per target policy, 1 target coupon and 1 manufact. coupon per item allowed. she insisted on calling the manager over and the manager was not mean at all, she did proceed to call headquarters who did approve the use of my coupons..All of them. this manager was nice to me and wether she approved or not helped me in a courteous manner. however while i waited for her to return, the cashier was snippy and voided my transaction and proceeded to have customers pass me over and over again. that was the embarrasing moment of it all. Ok, I got the free cereal but i don't know if i will try to get this cereal again as according to everyone's posts these coupons will continue to beep. Oh yeah, i got the deodorant too.

34 sarah beals August 20, 2009 at 7:33 am

The GM cereal coupon is no longer there...unless I am missing something.!?

35 Stacie August 20, 2009 at 9:56 am

My store wouldn't let me buy the single cups. They told me it had to be a big box of cereal. She wouldn't ask a manager and I wasn't in the mood to mess with her. When I told her to take the cereal off my bill she looked at me like I was crazy. I don't know that I will bother with target again!

36 Meaghan August 20, 2009 at 10:15 am

I actually was so upset by my embarrassing experience that I wrote the Target Customer Service regarding the issue.Technically none of us are in the wrong here!!! :) This is their coupon policy that they emailed back to me that I thought I would share:

"In the meantime, I'd like to share with you some information about our coupon policy. When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines: - We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued and manufacturer-issued.- We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.- We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in this case, we're able to adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.- We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.- All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you're checking out."

37 CouponSista August 20, 2009 at 6:54 pm

I had the same issue however there was no store manager available. Just a so-called supervisor. She also stated there was a box in the picture. I stated it doesnt specify box, bag, size, etc. She wouldnt take them. She even made a comment about them being internet coupons and that she has issue with taking those but if I would like to buy a full sized box shed be happy to take $1 off. I am not sure what I will do at this point. But I was embarrassed as well....and left pissed. All my $80 cash purchases I left them right there for them to void. They definitely wont get my business again.

38 Joy August 20, 2009 at 8:45 pm

Same story here too - except I ended up getting the 10 cups but the manager said "THIS IS THE LAST TIME."

I also got 2 hungry hippos and 2 connect 4 travel size games (marked $4.99 each) and used 4 - $4 coupons and they ALL beeped too, but I think the cashier was so annoyed that he just pushed it through.

39 mayday August 20, 2009 at 9:03 pm

It would be helpful if you would edit your posts to show that (& any others) they beep. I did not get have time to scroll through all the comments yesterday, so ended up getting hassled for 20 min because of these coupons. Also, I think it's dishonest to tell people these are free when Target has obviously coded them to only work on the boxes.

40 CouponSista August 20, 2009 at 10:41 pm

Forgive, but I must step in. I get so sick of people adding there 2cents in this manner. No one made you read this blog, you decided to on your own. I am grateful the author takes the time out to keep us informed, so let me first say "THANK YOU". Next, there is nothing dishonest about this post. Different stores create their own policies while some arent supposed to. Some managers base this off their own personal opinions as you can see by the earlier statement "I just cant let you walk out of here with that for free." However, their headquarters have a different response and clearly inform you of what the policy is. The fact of the matter is that this is a YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) situation and these coupons are accepted at the stores discretion. It seems mayday your trying to find a scapecoat in this situation because you were embarrased and hassled. Stop being uptight go to another store or just be quiet because accusing someone of being dishonest is an attack to their character and is just plain wrong!

41 stephanie August 21, 2009 at 7:53 am

I've used 20 cereal coupons at a time with no problem and am going back today for more! These are great for my daughter to take back to college! Thanks for all hardwork everyone on this site does to bring us the best bargins and the biggest bang for our buck!

42 Jennifer August 21, 2009 at 11:40 pm

Just so you guys know Target has to take them according to their own store policy. They will take one manufacture coupon and one store coupon per item. However, CVS carries the GM cups in the seasonal aisle and they take all coupons, and they are the same price as target with less hassle.

43 Angi August 23, 2009 at 10:47 pm

I tried to use a coupon for the general mills cups today and the girl gave me a hard time because she said it can't make them free. She also said that I have to get the cereal pictured, so I ended up getting none because she got an attitude and refused to budge!

44 Mary Ann August 29, 2009 at 11:38 pm

I don't want to do anything wrong when I use coupons. I am honest. The manager at Target today told me that the coupon says one per transaction. It IS there! She said they also limit number per person so there will be enough on the shelfs for the other people. She showed me the sign at customer service and I understand. I will take the limits and go back everyday when I have a good coupon.
