$0.50 per lb. after coupon!
I really wish we had a Super Target near us so I could take advantage of these great produce and deli deals, but alas, I’m not so lucky yet.
Do you have any recipe suggestions for apples? I like to melt a little bit of peanut butter in the microwave and dip slices in it.
Thanks, Money Saving Mom!

I got a 3 pound bag of bananas yesterday at Target for $1. It said they are regularly $1.99. I don’t have a super Target, and this is the first time I had ever seen them. I thought it was a great deal b/c when i go to Bi-Lo, I usually pay .70 cents for just 2 bananas!

That’s a pretty good deal, Katie! I think we usually pay around $1.49 for 3-lbs. at Sam’s Club. The price of bananas has really increased over the past few years.

I always purchase the marked down apples… I live in Detroit Michigan and around here in the fall Apples are dirt cheap because Michigan has so many growers. Anyhow…
I buy the marked down ones, peel and chop them up. I use about 3-4 lbs of apples at a time, I add about 1 1/2 brown sugar (light or dark doesn’t matter), 1/2 cup regular sugar and 1/4 cup of cinnimon or too taste. I then put in a glass bowl in the oven at 375 for about an hour to 2 hours depending on how they look. For more of a apple sauce cook longer. I then put them in a big glass bowl and use a potateo masher on them (you could use a blender or something similar but then its not so old style). It makes great apple sauce… Even if the apples have bad spots on them just cut those off.. I then freeze it in bulk and my kids eat it year round… especially when we cant afford many fresh fruits in the early spring.

I love this time of year! I thought $0.78/lb. was great at Kroger’s until I saw this coupon and the price of apples at Target last week. I bought about 6 pounds of apples and made apple sauce, apple butter, and apple turnovers. Yum!

I just went to target and got this apple deal… but the apples were 78cents per lb, so i ended up paying 79 cents (good measuring! lol) for a little over 2 lbs of apples… they were honey crsip or golden delicious, but granny smith were the same price.
Also, with the $1 off ocean spray cranberry juice cocktail, they are marked down to 1.98 this week, so you can get a 64 oz bottle of juice for 98 cents… as well as the $1 off a $1 or more purchase in the bakery dept… I got 2 bagels for 99 cents, or you could get a loaf of french bread for 49 cents (because they are 1.49) I also got the wipes, with the $1 off coupon on Up&up wipes and they were 55 cents for a tub :) awesome deal!!! and if you look, it might not be at all targets, but Kashi cereals have coupons on them… there is a target coupon for $3 off 2, and then there are also manufacturers coupons for $1 off each one on the boxes, so you get $5 off 2 boxes of Kashi cereal, which made them less than 50 cents a box!!

Anybody know what criteria Target uses to decide whether a new store will be a “regular” one or a Super Target? They just opened here last year. Big store, brand new shopping complex, but no Super Target. The only other real grocery competitors are Kroger and Walmart, so it would appear to be a great market for them. Still shaking my head over that one.
