The library also has fun (free!) activities all summer long.

And we usually do the dollar movies once a week... when we wake up early enough!

It doesn't cost anything and he has a blast playing on the playground with the other kids. If any of you live anywhere close to the East Cobb Park in Marietta, GA--you should definitely bring your kids for live music and lots of fun.

Just freeze bananas, strawberries, or buy frozen ones from Costco, and add any kind of juice. Add yogurt or more bananas for a smoother texture. Kids think it's a sweet treat! We live in a condo, so we also like to get the water table out to the balcony or write on the ground with the new 3-D sidewalk chalk.

29 marlana June 9, 2009 at 7:49 pm: Im due in two weeks so it is just me and my fiance. during the summer and all year round we love to go to our friends and family's, the state parks, go bowling, and rent FREE movies at the library and watch a movie everynight! :) When the baby comes we will have our hands full! Can't wait!
30 jennifer Letavish June 9, 2009 at 8:50 pm: I have 4 kids and I they spend a lot of their summer in VBS camps.(Vacation Bible School) They are offered all around my town on varying weeks throughout the summer and they are free! Free summer camp Monday thru Friday from 8-noon! Can't beat that!!

We were also just given a year membership to a wonderful place called brookgreen gardens. the kids love that it has animals, flowers, interactive exibits and it is just fun

Also, there are many small municipalities around here that do free family events - if you pay attention to the listings in our paper, there's something at least twice a month that you can do for free in the summer (festivals, picnics, etc).

44 Tammy June 10, 2009 at 12:58 am: If you can find coupons or get it pre season on a season ticket for a discount for a water park locally it can actually be a very affordable way to spend your summer - we buy our season passes for Monday to Friday admission in December and if we only visit the water park three times in the summer it will pay for the season pass!

Most of them are MUCH less than what the bigger water parks charge and the kids still have a blast. We also bring our own food and have a healthy picnic after all the swimming.
