The Columbus Metropolitan Library is hosting a free Summer Reading Club for the whole family from 6/4 to 7/30.
Online, you’ll find four cartoons featuring Captain Read along with several videos of community heroes such as police officers, firefighters, athletes, musicians, business owners, politicians and so much more, each discussing a book they love and why it inspires them.
They’re also giving away great prizes to encourage everyone to read:
- Kids: Coupons for Donatos, Columbus Clippers, Zoombezi Bay and more; entered into a drawing for a new bike and helmet and an Activity Kit
- Teens: Coupons for The Chiller Ice Rink, Columbus Blue Jackets, COSI and more; entered into a drawing for a Chipotle Burrito Party or AMC Movie Ticket Package and Flash Drive Wrist Band
- Adults: Coupons for Panera Bread, Columbus Blue Jackets, COSI and more; entered into a drawing for prize packages with tickets to BalletMet, Thurber House Summer Literary Picnic or Chipotle Burrito Party and Commemorative Lapel Pin
And next Saturday, 6/4, head to the main library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for tons of fun activities, including the world’s fastest electric car (the OSU Buckeye Bullet), crafts and visits from Max (of Max and Ruby) and Maisy. The Shazzbots will be performing, and there will also be police and fire trucks and an NBC 4 meteorologist conducting fun programs and demonstrations.
Not in Columbus? Here’s a list of national summer reading programs as well!
