That's perfectly okay, Jill! I'd rather have readers ask me an honest question than assume the worst. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to respond before passing judgment!

I didn't realize that, Sheila, and yes, the ink is pricey, but that seems to be often the case these days. Sometimes it almost seems like a better deal just to buy a new printer! I tried the third party cartridges with my Dell and had nothing but problems with them. I won't use them again, so that wouldn't have played much of a role in my decision, but it's definitely a good point to make for others considering it. Thanks!

That printer looks amazing! I have an Epson and it does a fantastic job of printing. The only problem I have (which will force me not to buy another Epson) is that they brought a lawsuit against all third party ink cartridges and so now no one can sell generic Epson cartridges. At $14 per cartridge-and my printer uses 6, I can't afford the ink anymore. When I run out of my ink stash, I will buy a printer made by a company more friendly to consumers on a budget.

DSM, Thanks for the response! It does give me much more confidence in the review (and was what I was hoping you meant all along!). I'm just trying to sort out which of the blogs I currently subscribe to are genuine and which are too much about "promoting" certain items (and it seems there are more and more of them). By the way, your blog is the first bargain blog I ever read, and I continue to read it each day. I was a little disheartened when I saw the review, but now I know that I shouldn't have doubted you. I'm sorry!

My SIL has this printer and she LOVES it. She is super picky so I know it must be good. I saw it sitting on her desk and was in awww of the size. Compared to mine, it's a baby but packed with power!

Wish I had one of my own..you lucky dog;)

Great review of it!

I love my Artisan 800...the wifi feature is the best...I use my lap top all the time and use to have to physically hook it up everytime I wanted to print. So to me, that's priceless.
Plus it scans - helpful for W-9s and takes out the need to fax anything (does anyone still fax anything anyway?)

This is a high tech printer for an affordable price. Totally a great deal!
Plus you can make your own holiday photo cards with it!

w00t!

Jill, I can appreciate your skepticism, but I don't promote products on my site that I don't believe in. If I felt that the Epson Artison 800 was a worthless piece of junk, I would have voiced my concerns to O2O and told them that I could not write a positive review and put the ball in their hands.

I do point out in my review that this printer is not for the casual user that just wants to prints coupons or random documents. But for someone looking for a full-featured printer with WiFi that prints high-quality photos, $199 is a steal. I paid at least that much for my Dell plus an additional $90 for a WiFi adapter, and it really would not have been worthy of a glowing review.

Sometimes a deal is in the eye of the beholder. As I mentioned back when I started my Sanity Savers series, "Some are frugal, and then some are not so frugal, but sometimes Mommy’s sanity is worth more than saving a dime. However, I always do my research to get the best price!" Those little touches like the enclosed paper tray and being able to print great photos without leaving the house make this an excellent deal for me. I would have willingly paid $199 for this out of pocket.

I generally love reading your blog, but this seems more like an advertisement to me. Do you really think this is a good deal, or are you reviewing it because you got it for free? An objective review of printer deals would be much more helpful I think.

Wow, that looks awesome! My little one is always taking the paper out of the printer to color on, or he sticks things in the printer and closes it!! Glad to know that it's not just me!

I've read several good reviews about this printer. I just haven't quite convinced myself to spend the money yet...
