I have a Dyson and love the suction the darned thing has...and WANT the ball...the only thing I don't like is trying to use the hose accessory, there is too much suction and the hose is too "tight?" it makes it difficult to maneuver and I always tip the whole machine over or the hose bends and sucks itself closed.

I've had my purple Dyson for almost 6 years. Bought it at Best Buy and almost had a heart attack at the price tag....but SOOOOOOO much worth every penny.

I have a hairy dog and this Dyson sucks up each and every hair...on carpet and on hard surfaces.

I have had to replace the hose a couple times...but Dyson's customer service people are efficient and friendly. I think I paid $11 for the hose replacement and $8 for shipping. (it arrived a couple days later)

The biggest drawback is the weight of the Dyson....I have two flights of stairs to climb in my house and I HATE to drag it upstairs....I should buy another Dyson...but again, the cost!!!

We had one where I worked for awhile, and it did suck really well, but I felt like it kind of had a mind of it's own when it came to steering, and would turn all over the place when I wanted to go in a straight line.

I took the plunge a couple of months ago and bought a Dyson with the ball. I like it very much. It cleans like a dream and the only complaint I have is that it is heavier than I would like for my bad back. With a dog and two cats inside I have a lot of pet hair and it picks up pet hair like a magnet.

I hate my Dyson!!! I can't wait for it to die so I can replace it with another brand that actually picks up dirt and lint without going over an area 5 or 6 times or gets close enough to the baseboards or doesn't jam and make this horrible buzzing noise when you bump it into furniture . The brushes or beater bars on the Dyson don't do a good job even picking up a simple thread off the carpet, let alone ground-in kid messes. I let myself be persauded by those great commericals they had on about a year or so ago and I have never been so sorry. Of all the household appliances that my husband and I have owned over the years this is the one that we have been truly disappointed with. Over-priced, over-rated and useless...Just don't...is all I can say.

We have one, that one with the ball. I find it hard to get under things, hard to clean in corners and it isn't easy to use the attachment. My husband really wanted this vacuum when we moved to the house, but he has a tendency to bring up the ShopVac as well for doing the corners. For the price, I don't think I should need any other vacuums!

bought one back in 2005, loved it so much that when i moved from toronto to VA, i sold mine there and bought another one here, with husband kicking and screaming all the way. THEN. he vacuumed.
guess what? he vacuums 2x a week now and loves doing it (i am SO not complaining)

to becky Thomas... I bet you got one of the bigger, more sturdier models meant for heavy duty, they have the smaller ones for lets say just floors or more floors and less carpet, etc etc to suit your needs, so those ones are much lighter, PLUS i can guarantee you that you can sell it EASILY on craigslist locally. anyone who comes to my home goes "oh you have a DYSONNNNNNNNNN" like its a big deal

my parents have a kirby, dad used to be a kirby sales guy. ok guess what, we never used it that much EVER. when i moved back in for a year, we only used my dyson because it was so convenient comparatively!

Tara how do I "try" a dyson LOL! ive been wanting to get in on the ball action too

OH let me tell you how much I L.O.V.E. my Dyson. We have the Animal. I broke down and got one when my son was first starting to crawl. We had a dog and I just wanted those floors as clean as I could get them. My sister in law had just got one and told me that she wanted to kick my brother to the couch and snuggle up with hers! LOL

Off I went to the store and I have loved it every day since. This purchase was 4 years ago, so that is plenty of time to know the ins and out, the good and bad. No problems here!

We have the Dyson Animal and LOVE it! With four kids, a dog and a cat, we needed something that would really pick up dirt. We haven't been disappointed. The cost was what slowed us down on the purchase, but we used one of the "20% off 1 item" coupons that sometimes comes in the mail for Bed, Bath and Beyond! Also, a note on repairs. The hose on mine broke (user error!) and they replaced it for free, no questions asked! (I didn't even pay shipping costs.) Just goes to show, it pays to invest in quality.

I don't think the price tag is all that high. We had Kirby sellers trying to sell us a $900 (their "best deal") vacuum back in the day.

I absolutely love my Dyson! I just recently had my carpets professinoally cleaned. The guy that cleaned the carpets said to me "You're floors have almost no dirt in them to even pull up. I haven't seen many homes like yours. What kind of vacuum are you using?" I told him that I had a Dyson and you could see the "Uh Huh!" look on his face! He told me that "those things are amazing"! Also, I have a large dog that is always playing outside and coming in and out quite often :) I vacuum every few days and it's amazing what I pull up from my floors...AND When I visit my mom and my sister, they always beg me to bring my Dyson so that I can do a "vacuum over haul" on their homes! We just love it!!!

I have the DC25 And i love it! Probably the best vaccum i've ever used. I like how its versitile for all floors so i can just vaccum up the cheerios my 2yr old dumps from her high chair in the kitchen while im still in the lving room. I also like the long cord , it reaches pretty far in my house.

I guess I'm in the minority. My husband bought ours and I hate it. It's really heavy, hard to manuver, and won't pick up larger-sized items (like leaves.) It has something in the front so that it won't get under tables and furniture. I have to move everything. On the plus side, my husband knew how mad I was at him buying this stupid machine without my knowledge so he vacumns now almost exclusively!

I have the Dyson animal and love it. My family thought I was insane for paying that much when I am so cheap when it comes to anything else but I truly believe that sometimes you get what you pay for. However I did find it at kohls.com and it was during one of those sales where you can get 30% off well I found the discount code online and ordered it with free shipping. So I got roughly $150 off. We have owned it for nearly 4 years and I wouldn't give it up for anything. You can also use it on bare floors to pick up hair and stuff. Best investment ever!!

I love love LOVE our Dyson. We made the investment when the vacuum we got for our wedding broke 4 years later. Amazingly the store we got it from gave us store credit (Hooray for Bed Bath and Beyond!) on it even 4 years later!! So we had about $200 already from that, since we figured we'd spend about $200 anyway before we knew that they would take it back we decided to still spend the $200 and use the store credit too and get a Dyson. BEST decision ever! :)

I have a Dyson, and I've about beat it to death (not on purpose; we just have lots of dirt with cats, several little boys, drywall dust, etc.) and it's still going. I just have to remember to clean the spongy filter thing every so often or else it starts to whine.

I would LOVE to try out a newer model --- how do I get in on THAT?!

I own a Kerbie!!! Shocking I know. I bought my Kerbie for 650.00. I love the shampooer, the attachments, the suction, and the look. I was debating on a Dyson or a Kerbie... I did my research and what was reasonable for our budget. My vacuum has many features. What we pay to keep our houses clean!!!!!

We have the Dyson animal and like you, the first time we tried it, I could not believe the amount of stuff that came off our carpet! And we had just vacuumed with our old vacuum. Our son has allergies and the Tyson had helped us keep the dust and animal hair down. Worth every penny and after 18 months of owning it, completely trouble-free!
