Update: Wow, that was quick. It looks like they've already reached their target number of signups. I'll let you know if I see them open the application again!

Surveys sites offer a great way to earn a little extra pocket cash, and Pinecone Research is one of the best companies around. I just got word that they're accepting applications again!

They pay $3 per completed survey via PayPal and occasionally will mail out products for panelists to test. I’ve always found them to be pleasant and responsive to work with, and they pay very quickly.

Pinecone is a pretty exclusive site, and it’s not often that they open up their membership registration, so I’d recommend applying now if this sounds like something you’d be interested in!

I never confirmed it the last time around. I just confirmed & answered the personal questions. Why not give it a try, right?
One thing I was wondering, do you have to have a paypal account or is a check mailed to you for each survey?

how long does it take for them to send a check? i just completed a survey and saw that my account has been credited the $3.

I just signed up, but it said I would receive an e-mail soon if I qualified. I wonder what you need to "qualify?"

Yah! I just got in, thanks! You know I had been with them for years & stopped getting emails. I had asked & they said they had removed me for not doing surveys & I'd have to rejoin. Anyway, I'm back in again!

Lori they can either pay by paypal or a check can be mailed. You choose which you want.

$3 does not seem a lot for a survey not sure why they are so exclusive, but I managed to get in this time.lets see what kind of surveys I get.

I got accepted last time too (last week sometime, I think). I got my email confirmation, and filled out the additional information so they would know what surveys to send me, but I haven't gotten any surveys yet. Bummer. I'm excited to get started.

I've been a member for months and get a $3 check in the mail every1-2weeks. Anyone know how much PayPal will charge me to transfer the monies directly to me instead of the check??

Reply

18 Jenni February 25, 2010 at 10:34 pm

AnneK- it depends what kind of account on PayPal you have.
If you have a personal account (you do buying and not selling), then you can accept payments from people and companies (limited) as long as they aren't using a credit card or debit card with no cost to you.
If you have a business account (which I have- bummer for the fees!), then they charge 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction of whatever money you take in. So 2.9% of $3.00 is $0.09 rounded up + $0.30= $0.39.

SA-

Actually $3.00 for a survey is a pretty decent amount. Most sites only pay $1.00 or less per completed survey, and PineCone's surveys are relatively quick and easy. Plus you occasionally then also get products to try for free in addition to the cash. I think it's a great way to make a little extra cash, but each to his own opinion.

Jenni -thanks for the info. I have a Premier PayPal account - not the same as a business account according to their website. I guess I will have to call them to clarify. If I have to pay fees, I will just cont to get checks as as the fees add up. Im happy for my $3 here and there, its the most I get paid from any survey comp:) Pinecone is great!

well ok....maybe $3 might be a decent amount.I didn't know surveys only pay $1 each.I am used to doing medical surveys that pay anything from $25-$150 /survey so maybe I had those in mind while I said that.

Just be careful with Pinecone. Follow their rules to a T and don't try to take a survey from any other computer than your own. I was with them for years, tried to take a survey from my mom's computer while on vacation, but because she's also a Pinecone member they blacklisted me! I tried to send an email explaining what had happened and received a rather nasty response. Oops! Great company, but stay in good standing.

Wow! Compared to the medical surveys, you're right, not much money. Didn't realize that.

Ruby, i got my welcome letter Feb 7 and got my first survey on the 19th i think. the sent me a check on the 22nd, haven't gotten it yet though. I thought I had signed up as Paypal, but I guess not. I guess it just depends on what survey we qualify for at the time.

I love pinecone research I have tested many products from dog food to cat little to even ceral with them. I opt to take the check instead of paypal still. But those 3$ checks add up real quick.

That's why I added the update to the post -- yes, they've already reached their max number of applications right now. I'll definitely let you all know when they open it up again. I heard that they may possibly be open again next week, so watch for my post!

I worked with Pinecone Research last year and the surveys vary greatly. The ones in the beginning would only take 15-20 minutes to complete, not bad for $3. But then I was receiving surveys that took me over an hour to complete, in my opinion not worth $3. I know other people who love it, but in the end it was not worth the time for me.

I am glad most have good experiences with this survey organization. I did my first survey 2 days ago and honestly, the downloads took forever. I kept trying to be patient, but this one survey would have taken me hours to complete if at all. It never got better, so I opted out. I really think something was wrong with their/my system.
