The following post is from the Deal Seeking Mom Project Administrator, Mandi Ehman:
Two weeks ago, I told you how I was using the Palm Pre Plus to get organized.
When I first started reviewing the Palm Pre Plus, I wasn't sure I would keep it once the review was done since there is an additional monthly fee compared to a regular cell phone. However, so many of the features -- browsing the internet, accessing my Google contacts & calendars and scheduling our DVR to record a show even when we're not home -- have made everyday tasks more convenient, and while it's certainly not a necessity, it's a splurge that we think is worth the cost.
I've found myself using these features the most:
:: Camera. I've taken a ton of pictures with my phone, and I think my mom appreciates the chance to see more everyday moments with our baby girl -- cuddling with momma while I work, her first time in the exersaucer, her first taste of banana, and so on. And the best part is most of these pictures are great quality, so I don't feel guilty about not pulling out my nicer camera!
:: Internet browsing. Even though we live in the boonies and don't get a strong enough cell signal to browse the internet at home, my husband has been enabling the WiFi feature to be able to keep tabs on the NFL Scouting Combine and the start of free agency.
:: Calendars & schedules. Last week we unveiled the Deal Seeking Mom calendar to help you keep track of when deals and roundups are posted. I've added these calendars to the personal and business calendars I already have synced with my phone so that I can quickly access my entire schedule wherever I am.
:: Music. I mentioned on Twitter that I've never had an MP3 before, and it's true. Two of my girls have MP3 players and my husband has one, but I've never had one or even used theirs. However, I do love music, and I always have a music station playing on the TV or my computer. But with the Pandora app, I'm able to listen to the music I want to listen to right from my phone. And unlike an MP3player, I don't even need speakers!

I agree with Rachel. This would help me be able to check on the deals on your website while in the store.
it would be great to get the target text since you cann't just open the text to get the coupons
I agree with Bobbi - its nice to have picture and phone in one so there are not so many things to carry around.
I would use the calender feature. My current calender feature on my cell is not very user friendly.
I would love to be able to have music on hand. I have to borrow my 8 yr olds ipod touch when I work out.
I use the internet for everything. Having a palm pre would help me pay our bills online, check emails, and my work emails, keep track of my kids activities and all that, and I could do it anywhere.
My current phone is so difficult to put things on the calender and I think the pre is so much more convenient.
I think the features I would use the most would be web browsing, the calendar for all my son's school and sports stuff and the camera. I have a camera but it's not very good quality. I can't remember reading, does the Pre have a flash?
I like the internet browser feature the best. I would use it at home to look up deals since my computer is at my business.
The calendars and scheduling are very appealing!
It would be great to have internet access right at my fingertips!
*The feature that appeals to me is to be able to have several applications running a the same time.
*The Calendar that let me include facebook and others calendars it would help me to stay organized.
*My laptop is everything to me (Agenda, Contacts, Communication-emails, Information, News, etc), Would be nice to use my cellphone as a mini laptop.
Also, charging with touchstone technology is neat.
I also would love to have the net and a calendar at my fingertips. Our family is constantly going in different directions and it's so hard to keep our calendar synchronized!
I'm like you, I can't take photos on my phone nor do I have an MP3 player. I would love to be able to do all those things...but I think my favorite new tool would be the ability to access the internet...specifically avoiding traffic when driving. So cool! Please pick me!
I use technology to organize bill paying. It makes it so much less of a headache!
I like the idea of a calendar that you can take with you and update as you go as well as having it somewhere else online. It makes it easy to update no matter where you are and that is useful to keeping organized in my mind!
The feature that appeals to me the most is the calendar feature. Being a full time mother with a home business, this feature would really help me organize my life better.
I like the calendar feature as well as the web browsing. It would come in handy while shopping.
I'd love the PalmPre to stream music and organize family life with a calendar.
I'd also like being able to check deals in the store.
The Internet & camera are necessities, I currently have iPhone & need something for son grad from HS in Spring
This would help us stay in communication W our son!! Relieve a lot of worries!!
W/out tech I'm in big trouble, I use it to keep track of days, dates, appointments-ESP my dr, of which I have an infinite amt; I download apps for entertainment, research, the list goes on. I am SAHM of 4 varying age groups, plus have a lot of ailments, so tracking everything is key!!
The electronic calendar is a my fav Palm feature. I would love to be able to sync all my calendars on my phone since that is my only way to stay organized!!
The scheduling tools and the internet for sure!
I'd love to be able to do some web browsing where ever I am. It would be great for getting directions while I'm out and about, doing product research while I'm shopping and being able to check and update my calendar (I regularly use Google calendar).
I would love the high quality camera. My cellphone takes pics that look like they came from 1974!
Definitely the ease of calendar coordination. I can't keep it all together!...and if I forget to pick up my kid again I don't think he will forgive me ;)
I really like the fact that it's made for organization... something im sure we could all use some help with...
I would use it to get MORE organized AND stay organized :)
My phone is pretty primitive, but I use technology for organizing my life, mostly within my PC.
I agree with Ruth. Being able to access Mapquest when I don't know where the heck I am would be so useful :)
We are getting ready to build a house so that's what I would use it for! Keeping on top of my "lists" that my husband hates! :)
But I agree - I think using it as a type of GPS system when you are lost is great too!
I am an online bill paying believer - I think that would be helpful too!
Another great way to use it would be to compare prices for items while you are shopping to make sure you're getting the best deal!
I have 4 kids going in 4 different directions. I need something to keep all my appointments right at my fingertips. Then maybe I wouldn't miss so many. LOL
I think the calendar option to coordinate my schedule would be wonderful.
I use the internet maps all the time. It's nice to have that in 'pocket' form.
I would love, love, love the calendar and the ability to integrate the sales into 1 complete calendar. I also have never had an MP3 player, but would love the feature, especially since no speakers are necessary!
I would love to check out deals while I am actually standing in the store not when I get home!
Bianca, I too would love an upgraded camera phone. The pictures I'm seeing from the Palm Pre Plus are great.
I'm like you, Oliver. Gotta track those kids!
I'm with Elizabeth! I'm always missing out on deals because I don't have access to my mommy blogs.
Internet browser is always handy when I'm in Walgreens and need to know the best way to maximize my savings.
How do you use technology for streamlining and organizing your life?
I work full time and study part time and I need a gadget can help me organize my time and type up some notes fast on the run. It seems Palm Pre is a promising tool for multitasking.
I would definitley use the web browsing feature. We do not have convenient web browsing on our cell phone and so many times when I'm out and about and wish I could access the internet.
I agree that it would be awesome to be able to "look up" a coupon while in the store. I find that I am at the store and want to buy something and wish I had the ability to see if I have a coupon for it somewhere or if I could print one off...
Great idea, Shanda!
Which feature of the Palm Pre Plus most appeals to you?
The camera. Like you said, sometimes I don't have the time to hunt for my "nicer" camera so this would be a convenient feature!
