The following post is from the Deal Seeking Mom Project Administrator, Mandi Ehman:
Two weeks ago, I told you how I was using the Palm Pre Plus to get organized.
When I first started reviewing the Palm Pre Plus, I wasn’t sure I would keep it once the review was done since there is an additional monthly fee compared to a regular cell phone. However, so many of the features — browsing the internet, accessing my Google contacts & calendars and scheduling our DVR to record a show even when we’re not home — have made everyday tasks more convenient, and while it’s certainly not a necessity, it’s a splurge that we think is worth the cost.
I’ve found myself using these features the most:
:: Camera. I’ve taken a ton of pictures with my phone, and I think my mom appreciates the chance to see more everyday moments with our baby girl — cuddling with momma while I work, her first time in the exersaucer, her first taste of banana, and so on. And the best part is most of these pictures are great quality, so I don’t feel guilty about not pulling out my nicer camera!
:: Internet browsing. Even though we live in the boonies and don’t get a strong enough cell signal to browse the internet at home, my husband has been enabling the WiFi feature to be able to keep tabs on the NFL Scouting Combine and the start of free agency.
:: Calendars & schedules. Last week we unveiled the Deal Seeking Mom calendar to help you keep track of when deals and roundups are posted. I’ve added these calendars to the personal and business calendars I already have synced with my phone so that I can quickly access my entire schedule wherever I am.
:: Music. I mentioned on Twitter that I’ve never had an MP3 before, and it’s true. Two of my girls have MP3 players and my husband has one, but I’ve never had one or even used theirs. However, I do love music, and I always have a music station playing on the TV or my computer. But with the Pandora app, I’m able to listen to the music I want to listen to right from my phone. And unlike an MP3player, I don’t even need speakers!

I think it would be awesome to be able to keep everything in one paperless place without having to take bundles of coupons and comparison lists along on my “deals” adventures.

The feature of the Palm Pres that is most appealing to me is the calender and scheduler. I have a few different calenders and planners that I use so it would be nice to have everything all in one place that is easily accessible.
Priya
I would love to get more organised and I guess the calendar feature would be great so u don’t have to make notes and lose the paper.

That sounds awesome….I need a palm pre……
I have a blackberry now and it’s nothing compared to the pre. I would use EVERY feature. My daughter has a smart phone and brags about all the programs she can access….well she’ll have no braggin rights if I get the palm pre!

The feature that most appeals to me is the internet browsing. Being able to google things on the go would be so useful.

I don’t have internet connectivity with my current phone so I would enjoy that.

Summer- I always get this strong urge to check my bank account after every single purchase I make. The Palm Pre would keep me from going crazy!

Linda-did your lil one put their two cents in as well? lol I love it!

I think that the feature I would like the most is the ability to sync calendars.
Mary
I use a Tracfone, so any and all of the features would be absolutely wonderful for me. I would love it all. Thanks

My favorite phone feature that uses technology to simply things for me is hands down the calendar function. SOOO helpful to use when I’m out and about or just away from my home calendar and a call comes in to schedule an appointment for something. Its not that I have a ton of commitments, but i’ve lost too many little scraps of paper that i’ve used to write an appointment on when i’m in the car, and then forgotten to transfer it to the calendar I see in my kitchen.
Perks for being able to set reminders on my phone’s calendar too!!

I agree with Diana. Data plans are really expensive.

All the organizing features are great. Too bad it costs more $ keep it up.

i think i’d like a calendar that i’d always have with me. that and internet browsing. those features are becoming increasingly important!
Lynn N.
The calendars would keep me organized by allowing me to plan my life around exams, school events and work.

I think I don’t really like just one feature by it’s self, but I love that everything I use is combined into one item. I love my mp3 player and I love my camera, and my pocket organizer, but that gets to be a lot to tote around all the time with you. This neatly and nicely puts it all in one.
Jamie W
I’d use it most to keep track of all our doctor appointments and schedule changes.
Lynn N.
Wow, I really need a phone that takes great pictures. My current phone takes pictures, but the quality is pretty bad.
Jenna
I’d like to keep my lists for all the stores I shop in it. Also pricing book.
TinaP
I like using the calendars to keep up with school dates, practice times, meetings and appointments. I would be lost without it!

I’m also obssessed with checking what I call my “mommy blogs” so I would love to be able to access these sites even when I’m not at home!
Telisha
I would love a phone like this…I’ve been contemplating a move to verizon. I have the HTC shadow (T-mobile) and not only does T-mobile’s service suck, the phones apps are not conducive to the life of a mom of 5 working outside the home. The calendars would be a lifesaver, and the music would be fun (for those moments when a breakdown is imminent.)
Jamie W
I the biggest way I use the internet for keeping me organized is buying full albums or just song by song for downloads. I have fewer cd’s and cases to keep up with, and they are here on my computer where I want them.
Lynn N.
Oh, yeah, and the MP3 player is really useful for working out because it means one less item I have to carry with me to the gym.
Laure Lardi
I like the calendar and schedule feature the best.
I would use it to combine my Husband’s and my schedule so we never have any misunderstandings.
I use technology to plan all my shopping visits to different stores. I am able to view all the weekly ads online, and plan what I would like to buy. This saves me a lot of time at the store.
Lynn N.
I agree with Telisha. T-mobile has spotty coverage and their customer service is lackluster
Michelle Van Rhee
I would love to have a calendar with reminders to keep me informed of my life! With all these school events my son has and what i hear is awesome calendar syncing, I think this phone is a great match for busy moms!
DarcyO
I like to have the Internet capabilities to keep up with all the blogs I follow.
Kari
For me, these two questions are related!
* Which feature of the Palm Pre Plus most appeals to you? and
* How would you use it to get or stay organized?
I would LOVE something that is easy to use and easy to sync to help keep organized!
Pandora is a huge plus too :)
