Yes! I’d love if you’d post your recipe for the liquid soap! I have thought alot about trying to make my own over the last couple weeks, but most of the recipes I find are for powder and I just prefer liquid.
Thanks!
jenny
yes, please share the liquid recipe. I’d love to make that version. thanks!

I’d love the recipe too. Do you know if it’s ok for a HE washer? That’s my only concern with any homemade detergent. :)

I have made this in the past and it is wonderful. A GREAT money saver and works perfectly. The only thing missing is scent but you can get that from a dryer sheet.

I have been making my own detergent for a couple of months now. Last time I used Dr. Bronner’s castile bar soap. They have a lot of good fragrances to choose from and there is no petroleum (if that matters to you). I used Fels-Naptha the last time and thought it smelled really good. I do agree that it stinks to grate the soap, especially since my husband somehow accidentally knocked the entire container of soap into our washing machine, when it was running (about 2 days after I made the soap) . I would love to get a food processor to do the grating for me because it kills my wrists.
Anyway, I guess the point I was wanting to share was that I love this detergent! It seems to be much more gentle on our clothes, it’s clean, cheap, and better for sensitive skin. :)
Also, if you have a hard time finding washing soda, I finally found it, and everything else, at Kroger and Dr. Bronner’s soap is at Whole Foods or Target.

Well, it sounds great, but I’d skip the Zote. It has optical brighteners in it, and I remember reading that there was some concern about their being potential allergens.

Would love to see the liquid laundry det recipe-thanks!

I have been making my own for quite awhile… when I figured the cost it came out less than $4 for a 5 gallon bucket of it. I use 2 bars Fels Naptha, 2 cups borax, and 2 cups washing soda. I put the Fels in a big pan with water and melt it.. then pour the borax and soda in to let that melt. Pour it into a 5 gallon bucket and fill the bucket the rest of the way up with water.

I keep looking at making my own, but have read that these recipes do not work with, in fact can harm HE washers. Any experience out there?
