Does anyone know... If you don't use all of the heavy cream that you bought.... can you freeze it and use it later? This icing recipe sounds fantastic but I never know what to do with the extra cream! :) And having frozen cubes of it would be super handy! Thanks everyone!!

Nope, I guess it's just the way the texture of the sugar cookie appears in the photo? I only used the confectioner's sugar in the frosting on the frosted cookies.

Well, I tried it and it worked ok I guess. I think I must have overfilled them because they don't look near as pretty as yours...the candy "boiled over" on most of them. I haven't taste tested yet because I just got them out of the oven (and burned my finger!!). I'm sure they'll taste fine. :) Thank you for this awesome idea!!!

Just so I'm clear, there's NO confectioner's sugar on the cookies? It looks that way in the picture and when I shared this on Facebook a friend asked the same question as Lee: How did you get confectioner's sugar on the cookies, but not the candy section??? Perhaps it's just an optical illusion! :)

I made these and just used whatever hard candy I found in the pantry...jolly ranchers and leftover cherry flavored candy canes. They turned out cute with a little rainbow swirl action going on. =)

Amy, I was going to, but I think I need to tweak it a little first. First of all, it calls for Fluffo (LOL!) which is no longer made, so I substituted butter since we're trying to avoid shortening, and it also calls for two whole eggs plus two egg yolks, and I could detect a distinct "eggy" flavor to it. I will definitely share it if I can get it perfected!

We're trying to avoid shortening too, and the great thing is you can thin it or thicken it depending on how you're planning to use it just by slightly adjusting the amount of cream that you use.
