I have been doing Angel Food for four years know. We found the food to be good quality. Only once have I got hold of a steak that wasn't to pleasing. But over all it has been good for us. I am able to keep food in the house. I still run low on some food, but over all we have food. Before I would struggle to keep food in the house over the summer and it was close to running out of food when school started up. Yes this is a God sent for us. I am sorry that some of you haven't found it good. Maybe you will find some thing out there that could help you and you would like.

I just had my first experience with Angel Food Ministries. I am trying to budget the best that I can being that I am a single mom (widowed thanks to war in Iraq)raising a disabled child all while working full time and furthering my education taking courses through my state's university online.

Not to be picky but I felt that the quality of the items left quite a bit to be desired. I am more than POSITIVE that I have seen most of this stuff, including the meat, at the .99 Only Stores. My stomach churned when I looked at the cuts of meat, the boxed goods and such. The only thing that looks edible are the eggs. I have decided to pack up the $50 worth of food and donate it to my neighbor who thought everything looked great. I felt everything bubble up when I ate the pizza and was curled up sick the entire weekend as my digestive track went in to revolt.

I feel that I can get GREAT quality and healthier groceries at Trader Joe's, Bountiful Baskets Co-Op and Kroger for a few dollars more and feel much better about mine and my daughter's health.

My other issue was that I felt I couldn't LEAVE the site without the volunteers pressuring for me and my daughter to join their church and I feel that is extremely innapropriate. I do understand that the actions are not meant to be malicious and their intent is in the right place but also offering my child candy is a BAD BAD thing. She is diabetic and I wish they would ask ME before asking my child. I know they meant no harm but still......

Angel Food Ministries has a great concept. It just doesn't work for us but I know it works for others but I will definitely NEVER order again.

We have tried it and it's been good. I have figured out what the food would have cost at 2 different stores - Aldi and our local IGA. A box at AFM costs $30 (or actually $27 if you use the coupon from retailmenot.com) and it would have cost $38 at Aldi and $45 at the IGA. So definitely saving money there.

The pork chops baked in homemade blackberry/orange sauce were fantastic. I served them for company on Sunday and were loved. I boiled the chicken breasts, removed the meat and made chicken salad that was good. I love having the shelf stable milk -- I am always afraid of running out of milk at midnight for the little guy!

I have had issues with the claim that it feeds a family of four for a week when it certainly does not, but it has been told to me that there was a formula used to figure out a certain lbs per person in an average American home with 2 adults and 1.7 children equals what's in a box. Hhhmm, I guess if the kids are off to school getting free breakfasts and lunches and you only have to serve a dinner each night...but even then there's not enough vegetables, etc. to stretch a week.

But overall fro $27, it's a good bet.

Barley, the suit is not filed against AFM. It's filed against the owner's son, and I'm not really sure what that has to do with the decision of whether or not to purchase food from Angle Food Ministries.

I have to say, my sons , who are 15 and 20, eat a lot! I bought the first Angelfood order back in September and with the exception of one month, i have been happy! The food is good, and the selection is pretty much what we ,as an active family would buy. My son loves to take the steaks and grind up half in our processor to make some really lean hamburger. We usually buy 3 orders of regular box and that takes us through untill the next order period. With the exception of some milk or other basics, we really don't go to the store much anymore. You really do have to pick and choose what month is best for you, but we usually just freeze what we don't need right away and find it later. Summer is coming and the grill stuff will be good!

Summer is coming and the grill stuff will be good!

my church used to distribute angel food but we dont any longer. the menues never changed,we had recieved food late, we were often not given all of the food we ordered for our community, and once recieved pork loins at our church and every one was THAWED!!!(yuck). that is a health code violation if i ever saw one. so we switched to another food program called "Great food for all." it is the same price but the food is better and we get more variety of food like fish. their specials are better too with a breakfast box that had sausage patties, hash brown patties, bacon and gourmet coffees. and a kids box for lunches, i also like the "cheesecake factory" cheesecakes we get in the dessert boxes. plus our church gets twice the bennevelance that angel food gave us. check it out man. greatfoodforall.com.

"To say it’s restaurant quality is silly. All the food was of extremely poor quality but what do you expect? It’s the same stuff you can get in the dollar stores, the food you normally would not buy."

Restaurant quality? Not by a long shot!! Most of their food is gross, much of it not worth ever eating.

What they try to pass off as steak is wretched. It's so fat, and grissel ladden, that I had to throw at least half of it away. I can get 400 times better steak for a mere $3 dollars per pound at my local butcher, and that is not even on sale!!

The vast majority of this is dollar store food, that you know is low quality.

All of the meat is filled with a nitrate based seasoning, that makes the meat smell funny, and taste funny too. No thanks, I would rather season my own food.

Had some pork chops from them, it was some of the most foul tasting meat ever, and also jammed pack full of fat. Ick!

I don't think you can even argue this is a good value, at the current $30 dollar price for the basic kit.
