It's actually pretty easy to core your own.
I just did a search on youtube and watched several different styles of prepping a fresh one...this video shows the same method that I use...and in the summertime, we tend to go through 3 or 4 a week.

Hope this helps!
Thanks for everything that you share with us!

Oh wow! No it's not difficult at all! A year or two ago my boyfriend suggested we buy a whole pineapple "just because we've never done it," and it was super easy! We've bought them a few times since then.
I bought a gadget at the store that peels and cores it for $8-it is awesome, it works kind of like a corkscrew and pulls the meat right out!! We have eaten 4 pineapples this week cause they were on a great sale at Safeway last week.
Oh you must learn to core your own pineapples. Once you do one or two of them you'll wonder why you've been paying the higher prices to have that already done for you. Here is an excellent video showing you how to do it although I would LOVE to have that knife he's got, my French Chefs knife works just as well.

Okay, I just purchased my first whole pineapple at ALDI today, so I'll be giving this a try!
