If you eat out of containers (ice cream cartons, salsa jars, etc), then you waste less water doing dishes! LOL :)

We bought reusable bags today. We spent the day out with the lights off, and a.c. off. We unplugged electronics and appliances. It has made us be more concious of our behavior to help save our planet. We didnt use paper napkins today also. April Hardy´s last blog post..What I Save When I Shop

We compost all food scraps including grass clippings, guinea pig's litter and our shredded paper to use for next years garden! We recycle more than we throw away and always take our re-usable bags with us when we shop- even at clothing stores.

The little things you do add up to make a bigger impact. I always try to use reusable shopping bags instead of plastic, a reusable water bottle instead of single-use plastic bottles, and I do my best to recycle anything I can.

We try not to use a lot of lights, unplug electrical when not in use, and use the reusable shopping bags( they carry so much more and I don't worry about them ripping!)

One thing our family does is instead of throwing our stuff away, we "recycle" it by finding a family that needs it or wants it. It is amazing that something may have no purpose to you but someone else has a purpose for it! Rachael´s last blog post..More Kashi Coupons!

I have been taking a trash bag with me when I go walking and pick up trash as I go along the streets around my home. It makes the neighborhood look a little nicer. I also collect all of those coins that people seem to just throw away for some reason. Those pennies add up.

I have collected a bunch of the reusebale grocery bags and I keep them in my trunk...so anytime I pop into a store I pick them out of the trunk to use! I always have them with me and can not use the excuse that I forgot them at home!

My "green" tip. I often times buy "used" tablecloths at garage sales that either have stains or rips in them - I use a pinking sheers, and cut a 18 x 18 inch square to use as my everday napkins. When they start looking bad enough - I "transition" them to the rag basket. After they hit the rag basket - when I have a nasty clean up job that I would normally use a paper towel for - I use the worst rags - and then transition them to the trash. This is a great way to recycle a cotton tablecloth that would probably end up in the trash - I don't buy paper napkins at all anymore - my family always feels special using "cloth napkins" in various colors, and they are much larger than the paper variety - and amazingly last a long time. I have a pile of about 30-40 everday napkins - and they go in with the regular laundry! My friends think I am crazy with no paper napkins - and I have been that way for years! Anita Blumenthal

Teach your kids how to recycle, get them invloved in it. & buy Siggs (or other reusable water container) We have saved so much already & the kids love theirs!

I cut up brown grocery bags and use like landscape cloth under bark mulch in my flower beds and garden. I use cardboard or old carpet in the paths under step stones and gravel.

check your local recycling station to see what recyclables they accept. You can reduce your waste

freecycle as it saves you money and keeps the landfill from getting perfectly good stuff. Use reusable bags; many stores will give you $.05 to $.10 for each bag you bring.
